Anonymous Cell Block Building
On one hand, the apartment is in a good location. Halcyon Coffee Shop, Blue Star Brewery, Stella, and a bike rental shop are a half mile away. You can walk the Riverwalk to downtown, or ride a bike south to visit the missions.
On the other hand, I was unable to stand the noise level caused by continual freight train traffic. The apartment is 50 feet from the tracks. It is untenable to wear earplugs all the time. The screeching of metal tracks and wheels, the loud horns, etc. we’re the reason I finally had to leave.
The building is at the far end of the complex and feels very remote—I didn’t want to walk to the building at night. It would be best to try to rent a unit that is closer to Burgerteca and on the river side rather than the railroad tracks.
The apartment is anonymous but serviceable. The furniture is a bit worn and there is very little in the kitchen for cooking. There’s also a Kuregg coffee machine which brews vile coffee.
The entire building is constructed of concrete—the stairwells are dirty and the corridors leading to the apartment doors have concrete floors. The overall feeling is a bit hostile.
There’s no information of any kind in the apartment. All communications with the apartment management are done by text message. When the remote didn’t work, I requested another one as well as a phone call. The management refuses to call. Every interaction is remote. Seems a bit silly, and is inconvenient.
My advice is to not waste time in San Antonio staying at this place. Stay in King William neighborhood to experience some charm and personality of a neighborhood. Also note the pool is quite small and is impossible for lap swimming. Staff is non existent at this complex. Dog walkers are everywhere and irresponsible with picking up poop. Therefore, be prepared for that unpleasantness when you are walking. The maintenance staff needs to clean up!
