Nice hotel but be careful when booking

Pros: Food was very good. Beds are comfortable
If you are booking more than one room be sure to call to get them together. We had to complain for a couple of days before they moved us next to each other. Room pictures advertised on here are not the views you will get.

Stayed six nights and didn't wanna leave! We didn't use the butler service. We probably will next time. Everything is still great without the butler service.

Cons: No free Internet, Poor breakfast, bugs, lazy workers, no service, terrible food
I recently visited this resort after doing much research on the destination but unfortunately found the resort to be far less than one would expect from reading about the place beforehand. The staff and food is nothing more than 1 star. The staff are untrained, or very poorly and insuffiently trained at most, which result in the service received everywhere in this resort, appalling and downright unaacceptable given the fact that one expexts 5 stars, as advertised. Location: The beach was beautiful and the rooms were nice. That is the extent of it. Food: The food was mediocre at best. There are two restaurants; which require reservations. At an all inclusive resort, reservations should be optional. Nothing I read indicated that at the Bahama Bay restaurant, the lunch buffet would consist of what was leftover from breakfast....really!!! Service: There was none. There were 2 people that were actually good at their jobs. The woman in the Paris Cafe was very friendly and was a joy to talk to. The young man in the martini bar was polite and remembered your drinks from the night before which was a nice touch. Everyone else was rude; didn't look at you and they were not helpful at all. The woman making omelets in the morning just about looked at you and if she spoke it was a grunt at best. The bartenders would run out of ice, soda etc and make no attempt to try to get you what you asked for from another bar. BUGS! Millions of them. I thought that the can of Deep Woods OFF was left by the person who had the room before me; nope, they are complimentary because the amount of bugs is staggering. We saw someone spray around lunchtime; ONCE. DISGUSTING!! Check out: We were told we would receive instructions the night before. We never received them, so the following morning after breakfast we asked about checkout. We advised them they could pick up our bags at 8:30 AM. We waited in the room until 9:40 - called the front desk 3 times only to be told that someone was on their way. We ended up walking our bags to the main office. We had to walk by at least 7 people who worked there who didn't bother to offer to help us, or offer to call someone to take our bags. My impression of the staff at the Bahamas Emerald Bay is LAZY AND IGNORANT. I will never return and will let everyone know what kind of experience we had.

The grounds and beach very beautiful!

Pros: Close restaurants
The hotel was beautiful, bright flowers, tropical greenery, and of course unbelieveable water. The food was great. The room was great( clean, great beds). The only problem was just a few customer service issues. There were times when the staff could have been more helpful. At times they seemed to not know the answers to very simple questions and not even know where to find the answer. Didn't ruin trip though, all and all great place to vacation.

Excellent rest and relaxation honeymoon

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Quiet
Cons: No free Internet
Accommodations, food quality and variety, cleanliness, friendly and attentive service-- all of it was great. Only negative on our trip was that we rarely got to partake in any of the water sports in the 4 nights and 5 days we spent there. 90% of the time the "red flag" was up meaning weather wasn't stable enough for us to get out on the water for any sort of sport like scuba diving or snorkeling... and that was one of the main reasons we wanted to go to the Bahamas!

Not a lot of Bang for the Buck, over priced under staffed.

Pros: Free breakfast
Cons: Nothing close
Name spelled wrong on airline reservation had to pay to change ticket after being assured by Sandals I would not. Could not access room upon arrival, could not exit room for fourteen hour once access was gained, no control A/C in room max cool had to open doors to warm up, room was not cleaned on second day. Hotel moved us into another room which was nice but the bathroom light switch was broke and the light could not be turn off, we were told no switch was on hand to replace the defective one. Food service needs to be improved.

Beautiful location, great staff... food? Um...

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Cons: scuba off-site, butlers are an unnecessary expense
This was my wife's and my second vacation with Sandals... last year we stayed at the Grande in St. Lucia. This resort was a fair amount smaller than the Grande, and as a result had a bit less to offer in terms of a few amenities... e.g., scuba was across the street vs. in St. Lucia where it was merely down at the end of the property... no car ride required. Minor issue for us, nothing big. This is one of the smaller Sandals resorts or so we were told by other more seasoned Sandals guests. The size wasn't an issue for us, but the food was. It was not as good as what we experienced in St. Lucia at the Grande. Not SIGNIFICANTLY inferior, but noticeably so to be sure. The staff was very friendly and helpful, although I would say the "butler" service was entirely unnecessary, and not cheap considering the customary gratuity that's expected at the end of your stay... 5% of your overall tab. All to avoid the "labor" of getting your own drinks, walking yourselves to the resort restaurants etc. We didn't pay EXTRA for it, rarely used it and would ASSUREDLY not ask or pay for it in the future. An additional $250-300+ in tips for avoiding the laborious swim over to the swim up bar? No thanks. The beach and the turquoise waters were some of the most beautiful we'd seen. Amazing. Oddly, few guests really frequented the beach. Go figure... better for us I guess. Amazing water... really. Not to mention a near-perfect temperature/climate... insanely comfortable. We will most definitely hit a Sandals again, but as I mentioned, the food left something to be desired (a 5-6 on a 10 scale) and the lack of on-resort scuba was a disappointment as well. But we had a great time and it was exactly what we needed... peace and quiet in a beautiful environment. One last thing... if you're on a honeymoon or some other special occasion, you will have access to another level of "cuisine" on your trip via special meal considerations etc. The best food we had while there was on the 130' Sandals yacht... there's a returning Sandals guest dinner when the boat's docked there. GREAT food. It was SUPPOSED to be a sailing trip, but the TRIP was scuttled due to "wind." I'd say the price of gas more like, but hey... the food was a marked improvement anyway.
