1st Anniversary

Pros: The grounds, the hotel and our room were all AMAZING! View was great. Bed was great. Room was immaculate.
Cons: Front desk staff is a bit lacking on customer service skills.
Location: Estes Park is awesome but BUSY and wall to wall people. Great food, lots of shops and the scenery is gorgeous.
Restaurant stops serving at 8:45pm - menu is very limited, however - the NY Strip will met in your mouth!Cocktails were generous but had to wait quite awhile to be served (not waited on, but served). Front desk staff is a bit lacking on customer service skills. I understand that I am not the center of the universe, but when I walk up to the counter at least acknowledge me and let me know you will be with me shortly? Also, please do not check me out, take payment on my credit card and lock me out of my room a day early? The grounds, the hotel and our room were all AMAZING! View was great. Bed was great. Room was immaculate. The show we attended in the Ball Room was excellent. We did not experience any ghosties but we had a wonderful experience.

Not worth money

We booked a 2 bedroom condo on The Overlook property of the Stanley Hotel. Not as advertised; carpet was filthy; fans did not work; TV in bedroom and loft were so small you could not see. Property was not maintained for ice. Parking area and walkway full of ice and snow. We had a truck and slid down parking lot.

Historic Stanley

If you love old historic places, and ghost stories, this is the perfect place! Any fan of Stephen King should visit and take the tours. I can't wait to come back and stay longer! Magnificent property.

Overpriced and Extremely Poor Customer Service

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Customer Service
Location: The location is fantastic, but there are other nicer hotels in the area such as the Estes Park Lodge and the Silver Moon Inn. Better Customer Service
We booked a two bedroom condo above the main hotel. Upon arrival at 8pm we found the luggage of the previous guests still in the room. Hotel staff apparently neglected to move it to the guest's new room. We were asked to find the name on the luggage and waited and waited while the front desk tried to figure out what was wrong. Finally after 20 minutes they sent one bell hop to move what appeared to be luggage for 5 people out of the room. Approximately 1 hour after standing in front of our room, we were able to actually put our luggage down. The hotel staff agreed to give us a 20% discount. At check out they coldly informed us that it was our responsibility to fight out the discount with Travelocity. It is now almost 2 weeks after the stay and 2 calls and 2 emails to Travelocity, I finally received $91 back on a $600 room. No acknowledgment from the hotel of their poor service. I would not recommend that anyone stay at the Stanley Hotel. If it is haunted it would only be by the most miserable of ghosts.

No soap, shampoo, etc in the room. Toilet seat loose... Very loose. No hot water when we went to shower. On the positive side.. The bed we comfortable, the linens were nice, the staff was kind and the hotel beautiful. Just very disappointed that the basics weren't there.

Awesome experience all the way around

From the first moment we checked in to the dinner in the restaurant to the ghost tour at night we were floored by the warmth and welcome we felt. Special thanks to Claire in the restaurant staff and Andy on the tour. Both went out of their way to make the experience special and unforgettable. We will make a return trip to the Stanley!

Absolutely beautiful hotel, and a great location.

Pros: Location - Location - LOCATION!
Cons: We thought the room was way over priced!
We were invited to a wedding in Estes Park and all the wedding party was planning to stay at The Stanley Hotel, that is why we decided to stay here. It is absolutely a beautiful place. We only spent one night but would love to go back and spend more time here. All the staff was wonderful. The room was spacious and inviting.

This was a nice place to come back to after a day of hiking.

Pros: Free Internet
The Stanley is a beautiful hotel with an interesting historical background. The room was very large compared to most hotels and it was decorated just lovely. The hotel felt very luxurious and service was quick and staff was very receptive. My only complaints would be the couple of "stinkbugs" we saw in the room, as well as there is no bathtub. I have a toddler and bathtubs make bath time much easier. There is definitely something haunting about the hotel, not scary haunting, but you can feel the energy there. I think it makes for a neat experience.

A step back in time

We drove our antique car up to travel the rocky mountain national park. The hotel was very nice, we booked online and thought we were getting a room with two beds. My daughter had to sleep on a rollaway and at 4 said it was awful to sleep in. The hotel is great to walk around and Estes park is absolutely charming.
