Close to the beach

Pros: The staff were very friendly, the food was good, there was plenty of beach to enjoy.
Cons: One morning very early when staff were outside our room speaking loudly, I had to ask them to quiet down so I could get back to sleep.
Location: Xcaret was an excellent park to visit with many cultural and ecological things to enjoy. Xel-ha also was very relaxing and fun!
Enjoyed the location and the staff were very friendly and responsive. Was disappointed that my friend and I had to share a bed as our reservations stated 2 double beds. Some of the entertainment was excellent, others were okay. Liked the all inclusive aspect of our stay and the variety of options for food choices and restaurant venues.

Honeymoon suite

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
I had my wedding at this resort 10/27/12 and everything went great. We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite free of charge from the concierge room. The staff was very friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and all faced the ocean. The beach was beautiful and eventhough the resort was next to the pier where the ferry for Cozumel leaves the beach wasn't too busy. The only down side is the entrance of the resort doesn't look that impressive but everything else was.

We felt really comfortable here.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: Noisy
We loved almost everything. The sevice, food, drinks, entertainment were great. The only thing that wasn't, is that we were to have a deluxe room with a resort view.Instead we got a room that construction and junk below our room. We were told there was no room available but they would tell us if one did. They never did.Later we found out the Hotel was only 60% full. I guess we should have complained. I would tell friends about this place and would go back again.... Besides the room placement very Happy with this place...

Staff were so kind.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Except for the issue of being booked in an unpreferred room type with two beds instead of a single (king or queen), all aspects of the hotel were wonderful. The hotel staff were so kind and always came by to ask if we needed anything. The tours arranged by the hotel were fun. The variety of food options was plentiful. The beach was clean and quiet since we were at the end of the hotel "zone". The hotel was within walking distance to shops on 5th. No taxi needed. I highly recommend this hotel for couples, not necessarily for families.

The Good & the Ugly

This was our 5th stay at a palace resort since 2007 and the 1st at this particular resort. We have enjoyed each and every stay at Palace resorts. Playacar Palace is a small resort with a great location next to the ferry pier and PlayaDelCarmen's 5th avenue attractions. The resort is wonderful. The gym and spa is a 5-minute shuttle ride or a 20 minute walk away. We also visited the Cozumel, Aventura Spa, and Xpu-Ha Palace resorts which are nearby. You can use their spa facilities, eat at the resturants, and hang out at the pools. That is the 'Good", now here is the 'Ugly" The best way to ruin a great Palace vacation is to attend the sales presentation. I have been to 5 and they range from tolerable to horrible, this trip it was horrible. I am already a Palace Premier member and have already upgraded once, yet I don't understand why they would pressure an already established member so heavily to upgrade further. My advice is that if you really want the free spa treatments or attraction tickets and you have a strong stomach then go for it. Otherwise stay away. Also after we fullfilled our obligation to attend, we got the free Xcaret tickets, then later found out we had to pay $*.00 for them. I had to talk to 3 people to convince them to uphold their end of the agreement. When they agreed to correct the matter, I thought all was well. We are now fighting an unauthorized $* creditcard charge.

Best Vacation we've ever had

My husband and I went to the Playacar Palace for our 8 year anniversary in July 2009. It was incredible, everything about our trip was amazing, We got there, checked in with a nice drink, they wouldn't let us lift a finger from then on. Our room was beautiful, the view spectacular and the resort was gorgeous. We went to the spa a few times and played golf, and both were the best we have ever been to. The restaurants are wonderful, and I still crave the food at times. We made amazing friends while we were there and they knew our names by the second morning. On our anniversary, they even helped my husband plan something special to surprise me. I was overjoyed, and it was very romantic. I highly recommend planning a trip here, you will not be disappointed, and like my husband and me, you'll hate to leave. We are planning another trip here for our 10 year anniversary, and I can't wait.

What a Special Experience!

Amazing customer service and attention to small details. We felt like royalty. Upon arrival after the Cancun airport experience and long drive to the hotel, we were presented with cool, damp wash cloths to wipe away the grime and a refreshing tropical drink while we were checking in. The oceanview rooms are practically in the ocean. The view from the balcony is spectacular. Rooms were of elegant modern decor and immaculate. Food in the restaurants was exceptional. Guest Services was very helpful in arranging offsite activities (snorkeling excursions, Xcaret, day at Sian-Kaan). We couldn't have had a better time. We can't wait to go again.

Best vacation ever!

This was the best vacation my husband and I have ever had! Playa del Carmen is a low-key, smaller town that offers a large market place and plenty of activities. The hotel was gorgeous, the staff was extremely friendly and called us by name, and there were plenty of activities to keep us busy for our week stay. We also brought my parents along and they want to go back again! It was a lovely hotel, perfect setting, and we will go back again!

Best Vacation

After patronizing the Playacar Palace Resort In Playa del Carmen, I am convinced the staff must love their work. The customer service was unparalleled and friendly. All staff members took a special interest in making your stay most enjoyable. \n\nThere is a shuttle bus running every 15 minutes to the Spa (very efficient) where I spent most of my days. I take only spa vacations, yet enjoy the variety a resort hotel offers. Afterwards, one could lounge in the bar, restaurant, nightly entertainment or simply sit and view the ocean. \n\nThe location of the resort was very accessible to shopping and entertainment. One could walk from the resort (with a cane no less) and be in the hub of activity. Staff remembered my name were friendly and often went beyond the normally expected customer service. I highly recommend this resort.
