Close to the beach

Pros: Food
Location: Did a private excursion to Chichen Itza through the hotel and recommend it. However, make sure you ask to go to Ik-Kil cenote.
Stayed in building 83 in the adults only section. Initially had some issues with ac but they were taken care of and the rest of the experience was pleasant. Only felt that after having no ac for a couple days the resort would try to apologize in some way but they did not. Our building had butler service which to be honest didn't do much but they did exchange our beach towels for us. The food was amazing. I highly recommend the Alux and Arlequin restaurants. Le gourmet and Dolce Vita were only so-so. If I could, I would eat at Alux every night I was there. Beach is a little rocky so you may want to bring water shoes.

Nothing but Beautiful!

The Akumal location is the least busy and most beautiful out of all the sister resorts. The only bad thing I have to say is its hot, all day, everywhere. We kept the blinds closed in the room to help. The restaurants are hot. The refrigerators in the room are just a box to keep your drinks in, lukewarm. It's like this everywhere. If you go be prepared for the heat. It's so beautiful, you will be amazed. It's exactly what I expected in Mexico in July. If you can't handle the heat go in December.

Not luxury

If you can't speak Spanish I wouldn't go here. Drinks are weak. Food was okay, not horrible. Definitely eat at the Brazilian place. We were not told about many of the "offerings". Entertainment was so-so. And the beach isn't a normal beach.... good for children though. But the main issue is communication and the misconception that this is luxury.

Luxury Bahia akumal

Pros: Everything
Great place to stay ,from the reception when we got there to the awesome room. The staff were incredible and always helpful. The grounds were well kept and the room we had was large and spacious, close to the infinity pool and the beach. The food was fabulous and the specialty restaurants great. overall one of the best vacations ever.

Girls Trip

Pros: The resort was beautiful, clean and peaceful. The a la Carte restaurants were amazing!
Cons: The entertainment, 24 hour snack bar (24 hours is a stretch and the food was NOT good) and the resort shut down at 11pm.
Location: The resort is a little far from the airport but that wasn't much of a bother to us. There were a lot of options of things to do in the area.
Our trip to the Bahia Akumal was a very nice experience. I researched the trip in advance for weeks and we finally decided on this resort. We had a great time and would certainly consider staying here again. I think there are some things about the resort that don't quite compare to a few other resorts in Cancun, but it we really felt they also had some aspects that would also be hard to beat. The beach was really beautiful! The grounds are beautiful! And some of the staff were amazing! We also had an amazing experience in the spa - very nice staff there and amazing massages! We were disappointed with the entertainment (although the last night with the acrobatic men/lady was amazing) and the 24 hour snack bar, which didn't seem to be 24-hours. Several times we went by and there was no food available or slim pickings. The service at the resort was hit or miss - some staff were super amazing and some seemed uninterested in the guests. We tipped out of appreciation but we found at most places it didn't make much of a difference. Watch out for the Privilege Club presentation - I was mislead about it and that definitely upset me. I was told that my friend couldn't go with me b/c she was married and that it had to be either married couples or singles that could go. But when I got to the presentation, at least 3 people asked me why my friend didn't come with me. Then, it took almost 2 hours (and at that I cut it short) when 60 minutes was promised.

HUGE Resort not our style.

Pros: The grounds are very pretty and well manicured.
Cons: We had to reserve our dining in advance & our options were 5:30 or 9. The food was passable but not great. Staff was accommodating but not friendly.
Location: Playa del Carmen is about a 30 min van trip. We took the Xcaret tour and worth every penny.
We enjoyed our stay but it is a HUGE resort broken up into 4 campuses (Akumal, Coba, Tulum and Sia Kaan). Everything was clean, well manicured grounds and in great condition however it was too large for our taste. Everyone was adequately accommodating but it lacked the personal touch. We liked that we could go to a Adult Only area. The food was passable but not delicious like other resorts we've been to.

Beautiful Hotel with friendly staff - Fun vacation

Pros: This kids club, the spa, the beach, the pool, the staff we liked it all!
Cons: The drinks at the pool and beach are in blue plastic cups that I did not find appealing. The beds are not that comfy.
Location: Location was great and beautiful! Our only outing was to XCARET and we had a great time! It's an all day event, but fun, beautiful and a must see!
We recently stayed at this hotel for 9 nights with our two kids ages 4 & 7. We had a great time! The kids LOVED going to the kids club. Gabriella and Patricia in the kids club were both amazing. Our second day at the resort my husband and I had spa appointments and decided to try out the kids club. I was nervous about it, but when we got back to pick them up they both did not want to leave. This resort is fun for families b/c the adults can relax and the kids have an amazing time! The wait staff is also amazing. They remembered both kids names and were ultra attentive to all of us. Our drinks were always filled! Make sure to make reservations at the restaurants as you will want a change from the buffet. The only restaurant to stay away from is the Mediterranean. Aside from that they were all delicious! we ate at the Japanese restaurant on our last night and it was so fun and delicious! Also, for breakfast go to the buffet at the Italian restaurant. It has ocean views and it less chaotic than the big breakfast buffet. We snorkeled, swam, ate, drank, and relaxed! It was a prefect family vacation!
