Just a great vacation!!!!

My family and I really had a great time at Gran Porto Playa del Carma. The people and the staff were fantastic hard-working and very friendly. This was the true Mexico I had always wanted to experience.Thank you so much Gran Porto Resort and Spa!!!!!

Nice Hotel near 5th avenue shopping

All inclusive hotel was amazing. Drinks, food and most of the amenities included except for other activities such as water sports, ferry rides and adventure tours. Only complaint is the beach is gross from the sand bags and construction was going on next door. Since it was our wedding anniversary trip, it was kind of annoying. Asked to be moved to another room and never got a response back. Quite disappointed in that, but overall a great hotel

Great staff, great rooms, great resturants.

First time in Mexico, had an amazing time. The room was more than enough, staff is very friendly and helpful, pool wasn't over crowded. Close to shopping center and great restaurant choices.

Great hotel close to everything!!

Pros: Service, politeness and respect from the employees. Relaxing atmosphere, and first class service.
Cons: A few more ashtrays outside for those who smoke. Helps keep the resort grounds a little cleaner.
Location: Close to 5th Avenue (2 blocks) and close to all shopping in Playa Del Carmen. On the beach!!!!
Starting with the check in, we got the wrong room (double beds) and immediately went back to check-in and the young lady told us we would be moved the next day, to another room, with a king bed. The next day came and I was ready for a confortation and when we went to check-in they remembered us and said our room would be ready at 1:00 and to call when we were packed and the bellman would move our luggage. He did and what a wonderful room. The hotel sent a bottle of wine for their mistake. Just taking control of the situation was enough for us, as usually people complain about being jerked around on what they reserve and what you get. Not this hotel. They made everything right. The employees treated all with respect and always had a smile on their faces. This is an all inclusive hotel and you do not have to tip to get good service. We always wait until the last couple of days to leave anyone a tip, because we want to tip those who take care of people without demanding a tip. We certanly didn't notice this at this resort. Food was excellant and a different variety of meals everyday. The refrigerators were stocked everyday with what you desired most.

Beautiful Hotel with scenic view

Pros: The view!!!!!!!
Cons: bottled and can beer were not included in the all-inclusive plan?????? Also it was impossible to get a bottle of wine.
Location: The Gran Porto is only about 2 blocks walking distance to 5th Avenue with all shopping, restaurants and bars.
The hotel was beautiful with great views. The staff was all very friendly. The pool staff kept everyone engaged all day long including sand and water volleyball, water aerobics and many other activities. Every night there was some sort of outdoor entertainment which was very enjoyable. The restaurants and buffet were also very good.

Nice Hotel on the beach

Pros: Good thing close to town, shops and restaurants. The waiters and house cleaning were awesome, everything was spotless.
Cons: The food the beach.
Location: Great location
The service was great people all friendly. The food was OK not many restaurants to choose from, thought we had a few more but they were with the Royal not the Gran that was misleading. Also paid extra for a Jr Suite with Ocean View, not much of a view, we complained change rooms 2 days later one floor down 10 rooms toward beach. Room was great view not there because palm tree right in front, very disappointed. If you want ocean view you need to say Ocean Front, Who knew! The beach is not good for swimming, rocky. The web site I feel was very misleading not sure if that is hotels fault or Travelocity's.

Beautiful, relaxing resort close to night life.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Gran Porto in the Junior Suite with an ocean view for 4 nights. The resort was clean with friendly staff and beautiful views. There are 3 restaurants (Mexican, Brazilian, Italian) which are part of the all inclusive. Each restaurant felt like you were eating at an actual restaurant, rather than at an all inclusive. For breakfast and lunch we ate at the buffet restaurant which was very good. I was nervous about eating the food and drinking the water they served (not in a bottle) but everything was safe. We also received a couple's massage at their spa, SpaReal, which was wonderful. We had the "romance package" which included a 50 minutes massage and 1 hour 10 minute access to a private room with a Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and cooling pool. Our massage therapists were Lucy and Vero, both who were wonderful. Ivette was the receptionist on staff that day and she was extremely helpful and accommodating. The hotel is less than 5 minutes walking to 5th avenue which has tons of restaurants, bars and shops, all great for night life. The stay at the Gran Porto and in Playa Del Carmen was more than we expected and definitely somewhere we plan to return to!

Gluten Free Friendly All Inclusive In Playa Del Ca

Pros: Clean, Friendly helpful staff, great atmosphere
Location: Right on the beach, close to 5th Ave for shopping and dining of resort
My wife and I booked this as a late anniversary trip and we're a little concerned I am a Celiac and she has a wheat allergy. After booking we contacted the concierge and were told not to worry about they could accommodate our requirements, yet we were still apprehensive. When we checked in we met with the concierge, one of the cooks and one of the head waiters they discussed how to go about making sure we got GF food. We did not get sick once the food was absolutely delicious and they went out of their way to make sure we got what we wanted. We are at all 3 restaurants and the buffet without any issues after several days the head waiter would recognize us and make GF suggestions. The Gran Porto itself was a wonderful place the beach is alright, if you wanted more sand you just had to walk around the corner in front of the Royal. The rooms were very clean and the building was a delight, very nice architecture to look at. it's proximity to 5th Ave was convient we walked the street on a daily basis shopping and enjoying the sights. We will most definitely come back.

Gp is a nice Hotel. We booked a standard room close to sushi bar. The room was fine The location can't be beat so close to fifth ave. the beach was fine plenty of loungers and spacious. There are sandbags but they do need to save it. My problem with the beach is the lack of shade. I get tan but I found myself leaving the beach early because there are no umbrellas. The staff is great dinner is good. But the buffet is not and really u have no options for lunch. Pool side dining is salads hot dogs and hamburgers I ate lunch everyday at the sushi bar. The breakfast buffet is not good I was at secrets in November same size hotel 3 restaurants the buffet and poolside BBQ open for lunch. House wine awful the mixed drinks I thought were good. Staff was great really nice hardworking people.
