Chalet Stovald is a 3,200 square foot home providing the perfect layout for vacationers to enjoy the company of each other yet retreat to their own private space.
The upper level offers a large master bedroom with queen bed and a twin bunk with private full bath. Main level has one queen bedroom and large powder room. There is room for everyone to gather in the living / dining area with a 2-1/2 story rock fireplace and floor to ceiling windows overlooking Zigzag Mountain. The lower level offers 2 bedrooms, one with a twin bunk plus a twin over queen bunk. The second is the 'bunk room' with 3 sets of twin bunks. The large daylight basement has access to the outdoors and includes a full bath, laundry room and an additional great room.
Expansive deck offers outdoor living and entertaining! Only a minute walk to the Sandy River with cleared paths for miles of hiking and biking. Historic Timberline Lodge is 25 minutes away and the popular Ramona Falls day hike trailhead is only 6 miles up the road. For rock climbing enthusiasts, French's Dome is also just a short 6 mile drive from Chalet Stovald.

Nice quiet place, but NO HOT TUB OR AC, fyi
Biggest issue was that this listing comes up as having a hot tub (using the filter for only showing places with a hot tub). I should’ve looked closer, but in the reviews there are other folks who stayed and also were under the impression there was a hot tub only to arrive and find that it has been removed... we were so looking forward to that so it was quite disappointing. And I agree with the previous poster’s sentiment that for the price- there definitely should’ve been a hot tub (or lower the price since it doesn’t). The upside- It was a really beautiful area, quiet & forested. The house was a good size and the kitchen well stocked with helpful small appliances. Beds were decently comfortable and rooms spread out enough to feel like everyone had some space. There is no AC so in august it was HOT upstairs and on the main level. The downstairs stayed really cool though so we had somewhere comfortable to go, that was nice. Was also not a huge fan of having to check in at a separate location, but it wasn’t far from the house so it wasn’t a huge deal- just would be nice to upgrade to the more modern rentals that use a key code entry.

Amazing Weekend!
This property was exactly what we were looking for. Plenty of space and amenities for our group ad well as river access within walking distance. The staff at the office were also just lovely. We would 100% stay here again!!

Would love to have stayed longer
This was an unusual "stay" that was cut short due to circumstances beyond most everyone's control. We arrived knowing PGE was possibly going to shut down the power grid in the area due to weather/fire prevention circumstances. We opted to stay anyway, knowing there was a hardwired generator on the property. It worked, but a series of unfortunate events led to a "boil water" order, which wasn't possible w/o power to the stove (generator wasn't powerful enough for that) and we left. The staff, other than not being at the office in Rhododendron in the morning to answer questions and making it necessary to drive to Sandy before we could get reliable phone service, were very helpful. We give a shout out to Pam, who was the person we communicated with via phone, and was very helpful! Excellent service and information from Pam.

Perfect for our family
We loved it here. The house was so comfortable with plenty of room to spread out and find spaces for all. Kitchen was well stocked with anything you need and we cooked a lot!! The closeness of the river and trails added to the whole experience. We would definitely come back here for another stay.

Excellent place to relax
This property is all we had hoped for, and more. Sit back and relax in the woods, listen to the river, and enjoy the view. This place has it all. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for cooking big meals for a large group. Lots of wood for the fireplace. Clean, welcoming, and makes you feel right at home.

Incredible forest views and babbling river
The windows in the living brought the trees and dense foliage inside. It was so beautiful. We loved this house and will stay here again. It's large enough to have time with family in the living rooms, and small enough to find a private space to read.

Beautiful location
Enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful and peaceful. Lots of seating and tables on the outside deck. Only thing that was not very comfortable was the dining table chairs. It is a raised bar height table and the stools were very uncomfortable, on some chairs we could feel the springs. Only noticeable to our family because we tend to play board and card games.

Very pleased
Natural beauty is right outside the large windows and inside features cozy comfort. My family and I throughly enjoyed our time at this property and we’re very impressed that it had everything we needed right down to scotch tape! When back in the area we will be staying here again.
