The Historic Stone House-Walk to UNR, Sleeps 11

Built in 1925, this beautiful property was designed by Frederic Joseph DeLongchamps, one of the most prolific architects of the southwest. Inviting touches can be found throughout the entire home, but are especially prevalent in the open and inviting living room. You’ll love spending time in this charming room, which features a beautiful stone fireplace, tasteful decor, comfortable furniture, and original exposed beams. These beams were extracted from the Virginia City silver mines and are a true piece of American history built right into the home.

Each of the five bedrooms are tastefully decorated and have an updated 1920’s vibe. Both master bedrooms feature comfortable beds and lovely decor. The other three bedrooms also offer an amazing place to wake up in the morning, with comfortable beds and an inviting feel. Both bathrooms are conveniently located. The upstairs bathroom features a tub/ shower combination and the downstairs bathroom provides a shower. A laundry room with a washer and dryer are available for your convenience.

The interior of the home is beautiful, but the exterior easily rivals its charm. The inviting backyard is completely fenced in so you can enjoy games or relaxing with the entire family. Keep everyone entertained with the horseshoe pit and firepit. Revel in the lush landscape, pergola, cafe lights. Sit down and unwind at dinner outside at the custom farm table and benches.

The cottage-style home looks like something out of a fairy tale. The beautiful stonework, exposed beams, and vintage windows are one-of-a-kind. The lush vines climbing the side of the home add to the appeal.

Though you’ll love this property itself, you might love the location even more. Nestled in a peaceful neighborhood, but with amazingly easy access to downtown Reno and the University of Nevada, The Stone House offers the best of both worlds. Enjoy city views through the windows while also being just steps away from beautiful Whitaker Park, which features BBQ grills, picnic areas, tennis courts, and playgrounds for the kids. You’ll also be near a variety of restaurants, casinos, museums, golf courses, gardens, malls, hiking trails, and other attractions. Lovely Home, Convenient Location
This is a historic home built in the 1920s and the house itself is fantastic. There are nice entertaining areas both outside and in the family room. The upstairs bathroom is roomy, the downstairs one a little small, but useable. The bedrooms were well situated and all were well appointed and comfortable. The outside area with the massive picnic table, grill, fire pit, and games were great! The kitchen is small but useable, although there were not many pots and pans - we bought a couple to use and left them for the next guests. Overall, we loved staying here, other than the one oddity to me - it's very clear in the listing that quiet hours are 8 pm - 9 am, so we assumed it was in a quiet neighborhood. Imagine our surprise to arrive and find that it was in the middle of a number of fraternity houses. Our stay was over a weekend, and on Saturday night one of our rental cars was egged and there were parties everywhere. It's not unexpected behavior for college students and good on them for enjoying life! But I wish we had been better informed about the location. Overall, the house was fantastic, and we would likely stay here again over the summer, but I don't know that we would repeat the experience during the school year over a weekend. We only had to call the property manager once at the very beginning of the stay and they were easily accessible and solved the issue immediately (the alarm was set and we did not have the access code).

Christmas family Reunion at home on way to Mt Rose
Great!!! Good location. Clean and cute. Nicely decorated and furnished. Lots of extras in the kitchen; pots and pans, spices, condiments. We served a lovely meal for 13 one night. Seven of our party stayed at our nieces' home on the way to Mt Rose. Nine of us stayed in the Stone House. It would be lovely to be there in the summer because there was a great patio and yard with a bbq. Highly recommended.

No hot water and no TV cable until our final day
We rented the Stone House for a family Thanksgiving which included people from all over the world, ages 4 yo to 88 y.o. Bevause of its age, the property does have some charm but it's tired and needs attention. There are only two small bathrooms, one upstairs and the second bathroom is literally in the kitchen. We experience very low water pressure and cold showers each day, just not good for our elders and little ones. The door knobs are originals and aren't properly tightened so they would often come off. Finally, the television cable for the great room didn't work until our final day. Typically not a big deal but when entertaining a multi-generational group, it's pivotal. Especially during the World Cup and holiday football. The owner did get Spectrum out to fix it on the third day but the experience was not worth the price.

Beautiful Historic Home
We loved our stay at the stone house. Parking wasn't an issue even with the frat house Halloween parties in the area. Loved the large common areas. Would definitely book a stay again.

A great wedding weekend
We had an excellent experience at The Stone House. There were six adults and two children. Our only issue was that it was a lot of people sharing the bathroom on the second floor and the downstairs bathroom is quite small. But the common spaces were usable and comfortable, including a big living room, dining table and the outside patio with the fire pit and big table. The kitchen was also good. It's an old house so has some quirks, such as a shortage of closets and the fact that most of the windows were sealed shut (air conditioning/heat worked fine). But the beds were comfortable, the bedrooms pretty roomy (except for the single) and the area, despite being in the middle of UNR's fraternity row, was amazingly quiet. (School was not in session.) The location was handy to downtown and we had no issues with parking but again, school was not in session. The rental company was very responsive to our questions. It was an easy house for accommodating a number of people since the living area was separate from most of the bedrooms.

Nice place, but some items not disclosed
The property is very pretty on the face of it, and as far as location it's solid. However, it is not disclosed that this property is on fraternity row. It wasn't really an issue, but it was weird that this wasn't mentioned. I suppose it would be off-putting to some. The house itself was nice, although the kitchen was really small and lacking ANY barbeque utensils. There was a closet that said "BBQ utensils" that was empty. Someone probably ransacked it. The second bathroom you have to be a ninja to get into because it's so tiny. The heating is a bit bizarre. Some rooms were really warm, while the others were freezing. Some of our guests had to sleep without covers, while others were begging for more. Interestingly, there was a really big rat in the backyard that was hanging out periodically. A propane bbq would be nice. I don't want to diminish the quality of the stay. It was indeed nice, but I think a bit oversold with pictures and descriptions for what it was in reality.
