Cheap closed to skiing

Hotel rooms needs remodeling. It has Old furniture and antiquated bathrooms. Bed was good and Room cleaning was good as well. Hotel casino needs better ventilation from cigarrettes smoke. The location and price was perfect.

We stayed two nights at Circus Circus in Reno, NV, on one of their $36/night specials through Travelocity. As it turned out we prepaid $94 to secure the reservation, including resort fees and hotel taxes, etc. Upon check-in, we paid an additional $78 for again taxes, fees and room deposit. See where I'm going with this? A bit of unexpected expense at check-in when Travelocity led us to believe all expenses were paid upfront. The room was neat and presentable, upon first glance. However, the TV remote was broken by a previous tenant and only worked sporadically! Fortunately we spent most of our time either in the casinos or at eateries. (Food was phenomenal!) The bath and shower combo had black mold around the base of the bath, in and around the caulked areas. The toilet seat lid was broken and while it didn't subtract from functionality, was unsightly. All of these together give an appearance and demonstrates lack of proper maintenance and supervision of hotel assets. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were throwbacks to the 50's! Hotel staff were informed of all this. For a brand name hotel to present rooms in this condition reflects poorly on the entire chain! After spending beyond $2k at their casinos, it's difficult recommending the hotel to anyone!!! The casinos, eateries and other vendors were great. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE but come to enjoy the casinos!

Just fine

Pros: Location, price.
Location: We almost always walk the river walk. We always eat at Silver Peak during our stays. Same for Blues Brothers in the Eldo.
3 nights, 2 days in between doctor visits. Everything was just fine. This has always been an inexpensive room. Has always been clean and neat, even during the great recession. We will continue to stay here.

Good for children

Pros: Clean rooms, children's amenities
Cons: Midway attendants customer service skills
Location: Near UNR, good location downtown
We chose this hotel when visiting Reno because of the child amenities. Our young children would have a place to play and be entertained. Check in was slow because of the limited staff. Our room was clean, but just a little bit dated. We asked for more towels and was quickly brought some by housekeeping. For the evening we took the children to play at the midway games. It started off terrible right away, as the staff member at one of the games was terribly rude. She intentionally ignored us and when we asked for help, she said "no" she was too busy. However, she wasn't too busy to assist others. A complaint was logged with the midway manager. Everything else was fine at the hotel with the exception of the poor attitude of the midway employee. We would stay here again since it is children friendly and rooms are clean.

Things gets stolen from your room!

Pros: Arcade was fun for the kids
Cons: Hotel staff steal!
I have never experienced this in even budget motels. We stayed over thanksgiving weekend. The kids enjoyed the arcade. But the living experience in the hotel room was terrible. The service folks with access to the room opened backpack and stole cash from it two consecutive days. We noticed the missing cash and complained. The management opened a case, but could not resolve it. I believe they have no cameras outside each room and probably no system to track who services which room. Anyway its an old crumbling hotel that is just about surviving Stay in another hotel and come to enjoy the arcade!

not worth it

Pros: nothing
Cons: everything
Location: nice location you could leave the hotel and do just about anything, yet the hotel itself is super subpar.
I paid extra for the upgrade to the new tower. The room was very basic/missing towels and washcloths/super noisy/you could hear the guest in the next room, in the halls and the plumbing in the walls. The pillows were like rocks. Wanted room service, only pizza available....waited twice on hold for 20 minutes each time with no results. Called front desk who could only say sorry that they were very busy. The front desk clerk was the only positive thing about this visit. Well, needless to say I will not be returning or recommending Circus Circus to anyone.

Relax in Reno

Pros: The price was more than reasonable, compared to other hotels. It was clean. Had no difficulties or complaints regarding service.
Cons: When you provide coupons, have coupons that can be used, I did not use one coupon in the booklet on registration to hotel.
Location: I did visit other casinos. particularly Cal-Nev. Cal-Nev had reasonably priced meals, and had more karaoke too from Circus Circus.
I visited Reno after visiting relatives in CA and didn't want to overstay my welcome. Really had a good time by myself in Reno as well as my stay at Circus Circus. I had a very relaxing stay. saw two shows. and contributed to the Circus Circus casino, The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. My only regret was not being able to see more shows or the availability of other shows in the Reno/Sparks area.

Change Circus Circus to Zoo Zoo

Pros: Free parking and close to everything. The Casino areas were alright.
Cons: Better policing of the hallways for out of control kids. Answer the phone calls for service, such as Security. Fix the elevators.
Location: It's Reno... If you want to gamble, consume alcohol, see a show, eat lots of food, you are at the right place.
This place was the zoo that I always thought it was. That is, tons of careless and inconciderate parents allowing their kids to run friggin' wild. In the casino/midway areas this is one thing, but in the hallways of the hotel, where it should be at least some form of peacful?!?! I know where I ended up staying and fully expected the crowds downstairs; however, when we were tripping over out of control kids with no parents around and even awakened to the same thing, with very young kids running up the halls and even sitting against our door, we had enough. Stepped into the hallway in an unsuccessful attempt to locate parents, then could not reach the front desk because they were busy, then tried the bellhop desk who promptly forwarded our call to Securty. Of course, no answer at Security. Well, we were going to try sleeping in and were willing to pay the $14 for the extra two hours until this.... We packed up and left tired. Upon checking out, we were offered a $20 voucher for breakfast in the hotel; which amounted to one breakfast. I did not expect the Taj Mahal, but in a casino with $$$$ falling out of their ears, I would expect better than we found here. Add to this, we were on the 8th floor and never were able to find an elevator to the 8th floor. Had to ride 3 elevators to get upstairs. I'll stay at The Nugget next time.

Just A Really Bad Hotel

1) Hotel is old, outdated, and quite frankly, ugly. I thought it might just be me, but I heard one guest as he walked by me at the poker table say "this hotel is so ugly". Hotel Registration/Front Desk literally looks like the Department of Motor Vehicles 2) Ventilation system doesn't work in the Casino. 3) The rooms literally look and feel like a Days Inn, or a Quality Inn - nothing wrong with those hotel chains, but they are a much better deal. 4) I sat down at a bar, ready to pay for a drink and play video poker, and the bartender offered to comp my drink if I put $10 in the machine, which I did (intending to put in much more later). I stopped playing for a few minutes to watch some sports highlights on the TV and the bartender said "hey you have to play more, I comped your drink". Seriously?? I didn't ask the guy to comp my drink. Completely unprofessional. 5) Heard a cocktail waitress start complaining to a guest that she was "tired of this (expletive)", referring to the fact that her customers were too "demanding". Well, then maybe being a cocktail waitress is the wrong job for you. 6) Housekeeping knocked on my door while the "do not disturb" sign was hanging and said they were doing a "room check" because they thought I checked out. I called the hotel operator to straighten this out and she said that I could "call them [myself]". 7) The gym looks like it was built in 1980, machines didn't work, and, here is the best part, there was no complimentary water.
