Adult resort that closes bars at 5pm and 11pm.

Pros: Beach and beach bar
Cons: Customer service and air condition in hotel rooms
Location: Around the resort is a dirty slum. Looks 3rd world with dogs and cats running around everywhere
Ambar blue is boring, retirement style resort. They claim to cater to adults but everything including beach bar and pool bar close at 5pm. The customer service is terrible and the staff barely comprehend basic English. The website promises luxury, I've had better service at a holiday inn off of an interstate exit. The public areas and hotel room are hot. AC was non-existent. The food was mediocre, most of my travel companions ended up with stomach issues. They offer 24 hour room service- good luck. Took walking to the front desk which was 8 buildings over just to find out how to actually place the order since room service doesn't ever answer their phone. Just wasn't what you expect at an all inclusive resort.

Go some where else!

Horrible! Had to change rooms 3 times, ac broke multiple times! Finally just delt with it because we were sick of moving rooms everyday. Construction was literally right outside our window...stared everyday around 5:30-6 am and lasted till dark! Yelling and banging all day!

Romantic getaway

The overall resort was very nice. The staff was friendly and rooms were very nice. The beach and pools were amazing and well kept. Food was great and plentiful. Bed comfy and resort was well kept. So here are a few issues. First they don't give a lot of pre-arrival information like you should be booking reservation for the restaurants in advance of arrival to get reservations at the places you want to eat (lots of choices but book up quickly) they don't tell you how to make reservation or do activities included when you arrive. You have to figure out the guest services stuff on your own. The butler made an appearance when we arrived and said anything we needed but then we never saw him again and couldn't get a hold of him. He was supposed to make reservations for us and didn't and left us scrambling to get places to eat. Manager in guest services was excellent in fixing the issue though. Even though it was inclusive with alcohol we didn't encounter any guest who were visibly drunk or obnoxious. We stayed in adult only which was nice. It was quiet but there were activities on grounds. Going on excursions was easy and good to do. We would recommend this place but would like to see them email an information packet with what to do in advance

Not good for a group larger than 2.

Cons: Allow the guest to use the restaurants and be more accommodating to larger groups. Not every group is going to contain only 2 people.
We were unable to get reservations in any of the restaurants for more than 2 people. Each time we were told the restaurants were full. On one occasion after much back and forth between the front desk and us they finally accommodated us at the Brazilian restaurant. When we looked around the restaurant half of it was empty. We couldn't understand why we had a problem. Every night after that however we were not accommodated. They would not even accommodate 8 or 6. So even though they have many restaurants you are unable to use them. We were forced to eat the buffet every night. The sad thing is when we would look in on the restaurants half the tables would be empty. Not sure why they didn't want to fill the restaurants to capacity. ONe couple had to change rooms 3 times because the air in the room was not working.

Nice Hotel, but Rooms could use much improvement!

We stayed at the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Blue May 31-June 4 2017. The hotel staff were very accommodating from the moment we arrived. My main complaint is that we stayed in the 68 Villas and there was construction on a new hotel going on right outside our window. Not only was it going on, but it went on all night long and all day long for the 5 days we were there! Very hard to relax and celebrate your anniversary with all the. Singing and yelling from workers. The room was also not up to my cleanliness standards. Dirty counters and floors, a telephone that the buttons stuck and did not dial and we had 2 roaches we killed. One evening we returned to our room and the ceiling above the front door was leaking water all over the floor from the air conditioning unit. Maintenance was sent to fix it promptly, but left the water on the floor for us to clean up. If you can get over the room issues, the hotel is very nice and restaurants were good as well.

Pros: the adults only pool was fun and had good entertainment.
unfortunately the AC for the entire property went out on our second to last day and was still not fixed when we left. everyone everywhere was sweating and eating in the restaurants was awful. I got sick I am not sure from what. our view was of the construction next door and the crews were there everyday from 7am until 10pm hammering away. one of the pool staff tried to sell my boyfriend and friend drugs. if you want a good spot with shade at the pool or beach you must throw your towel on it by 7am otherwise forget it. had a hard time getting reservations for dinner so had the buffet more than I wanted to, it was ok.

Nice Resort, Ambar Blue

Pros: The people working there are very friendly and most do their best to make your stay a memorable one.
Cons: Communication with the customers. Tell them what is going on before you shuffle them off to a different hotel than the one they booked. Be honest.
Location: We did 2 snorkeling excursions, ate at the specialty restaurants, did a tour and riverboat lunch cruise. Lots to do in this area.
Ambar Blue hotel has a very nice pool, very clean and kept up, the food is very good there. It is close to the beach with lots of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Beach is kept up with beautifully as well as the pool. The hotel itself is starting to get old. The brick walkways are all lose and a little dangerous. They are building 2 more hotels for this resort so you have to be aware that you may book Ambar Blue, but get taken to a newer hotel which is smaller and really far from the beach right next to the construction which continues pretty much day and night. To book this newer hotel on this resort costs less than Ambar Blue, but if they don't have room at Blue, you get transferred to Ambar Green. To be honest, since it is newer, the room was gorgeous but it is so far from the beach, it's not worth it. We ended up staying one night at Green and transferred the next day back to Blue where we got our original confirmation for the week.

DREAM VACATION

Pros: The staff is friendly and helpful once you get checked in and start enjoying your vacation trip.
Cons: Hotel check in process so you do not waste a half a day of your vacation.
Location: There are a lot of things to do but we are more of a beach and pool people.
The overall experience was fantastic. My only problem was Travelocity had me booked under an entirely different name. They had part of my middle name twice and part of my last name twice, so the hotel could not find me in there system. Because of this my check in process took over 3-hours and I was sent to 3 different lobbies before it got straightened out. Also the Ambar blue and Ambar green are both adult only which there website said Ambar green was not an adult only. We ended up in the Ambar green which ended up to be great.
