Beautiful beach but food is really bad

Pros: The beach was beautiful and the grounds were very beautiful.
Cons: The food needs a lot of work.
Location: Sonoma Island is beautiful but there is nothing to do there and you can stay at the hotel beach for free. Snorkeling is a joke.
The location is beautiful. They take great care of the vegetation. The bed is very hard and the ceiling leaked. It is very quiet. If you need Internet, this is not the place to go. When too many people get on it will not work. If English is your first language, the communication is not good, they are obsessed with getting their towels back and you have to turn them in on checkout. The food is really bad at the buffets. Dinner is not too bad but my family was starving most of the time and lived off turkey sandwiches. You could stand in line all day at the grilled meat isle and none will help you. When I finally got a piece of chicken it as so dry you couldn't eat it. The portions are very small. A chicken thigh is split about 4 ways and you might get 3 bites of meat. If you like excursions, don't go here. They tell you that you will get pictures with sea Lyons kissing you but you go to a small tank and watch them swim. This is what they call sea Lyon caves. The snorkeling was also in a small ripped off area. If you like to drink this is the place for you. The literally pour the booze down your throat.

NOT a 4 star hotel at all.

I won't recommend Bavaro Princess to neither my family nor friends. We originally purchased their standard package but after reading reviews decided to upgrade to their Platinum option. That option completely ruined our vacation. Travelocity had to cancel the original and gave the same confirmation number for the new upgrade. Because of that neither the bus service from airport to the hotel nor the hotel could find us in their system. The hotel manager told us it looked like we just canceled our order altogether and demanded to be paid 200 dollars cash or have our passports handed to her overnight before she could confirm otherwise. Quite honestly, I do not expect to pay 2,200+ dollars for a vacation spot then to spend extra to have a better experience only to be told I have to pay even more just to get a room and possibly get kicked out altogether if they can't find our information. We even had our family in the states call the agency to confirm our stay which they did but the hotel management still wasn't satisfied until the next day. Ironically, the next day we were supposed to arrange our ride back to the airport upon completion of our stay and had two free excursions included in the stay that we had to schedule that day but no one even told us about it.. All in all, the staff was stuck up, slow and didn't do anything for us to forget about the horrible experience. All inclusive hotel even made us pay for the bottle of wine we got offered at the restaurant to go with th

Very large, modern resort

This resort was very nice. The staff was great (although communication is a little difficult at times if you don't understand Spanish) and accommodating. The lobby is beautiful with a nice bar, plenty of seating, a stage for shows, and a large buffet. There are two nice pools, 1 with a swim up bar which was awesome. There's plenty of seating around the pool and on the beach, with a few bars for food and drink right on the beach with shaded seating. The drinks were great, they use quality alcohol and the juices (Orange, pineapple, fruit punch) are delicious. There are a bunch of restaurants. The food at all of them is pretty much the same and very mediocre, but certainly edible. The best restaurant by far was the hibachi, it felt and tasted like real hibachi. The cook was very skilled and entertaining. The buffets are okay, but that's to be expected at an all inclusive resort. The seafood was good surprisingly, as was the breakfast and fruit, but that's a given on a tropical island. The worst food hands down was the pizza, but I wasn't expecting much from Caribbean pizza. Now onto the bad, which wasn't anything major or serious, just little annoyances: -flushing toilet paper was difficult and just didn't happen at times, even with minimal TP -hair dryer only worked half the times we tried it -TV channels would go in and out constantly -uncomfortable bed That's about it. Nice resort overall.

Great to relax and have a nice time.

Pros: Restaurants “el Pescador & Lisey” attention by staff, beach was beautiful.
Cons: More variety for lunch - maybe open the restaurants during the day too. Better Casino, more tables, more night life, less sales folks.
Location: There are some nice stores near by, and the Hard Rock casino is a 10 minute drive.
Overall I loved the vacation – We went to relax and did just that. The hotel staff is very polite and attentive. Could do without the Sales guys for tours/clubs/vacation packages hounding folks but if you just say No that is normally good enough. The rooms were very nice; we were maybe 20 steps from the pool and 40 from the beach so was perfect for us. If you like to gamble this Is not the Hotel Casino you want to go to, the casino is really small, not too many options and is open to the public. The restaurants were very nice, I especially liked “el Pescador & Lisey” ask for Danny – he and his team will take the best care of you. The Spa was very nice, me and my wife both got massages for 25 minutes and the gym is well equipped too. We had a small issue with our A.C. the first day but they got us a temporary room when they found out we didn’t want to move, while they replaced the unit. Leonardo Gomez from Royal Holiday took care of us our whole trip picking us up in a golf cart and getting us gifts. Great bartenders at the pool, real fun and social Juan Manuel was great bartender All in all the trip was great, definitely look forward to going back real soon.

Great weekend

On our trip to the Dominican Republic we stayed at two different resorts Bavaro Princess being the second hotel and we loved everything about it from the minute they greeted us to the moment we left the staff was very friendly with typical Dominican demeanor very accommodating!!!! Everything necessary to enjoy your stay they had on the premises. The only negative review would be the smell of the room but considering the environment it was a great stay. We stayed in the VIP section of the resort and all the restaurants that we ate at had great food. The entertainment team as they called it wasn't as live as the first resort but it was beautiful and relaxing and that is what we wanted for our stay on this trip. FYI the beds are extra hard.

Customer Service

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
Location: It's in the hood......stay away from the Bavaro Princess
The customer service at this resort sucked. If you don't speak Spanish they treat you like your second class. The power went out while we were at dinner, came back and called multiple time to have the power restored. We sat in the dark for an hour and had to threaten to talk to a manager to have them come restore power. The food was of poor quality and was just cooked bad. I've been to Montego Bay and Cancun and both were excellent vacations. Very uncomfortable in the lobby of this resort and the Wi Fi is terrible. Everything at this resort is over priced. Your representive on the DR side was no good(Arturo that works for Blue). All and all was a lousy vacation. Would come back to the island but never stay at that resort!!!!!

Beautiful Resort

My husband and I did a 4 day/4 night get-a-way. We loved the resort. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The beach is amazing. Love the white sand with the tourquise water. We only ate at the main buffet off the lobby. Food was what we expected. Our room was huge!! Not that we spent much time in it. The grounds are well maintained. The ecological area could use some love! It's very run down. Our main complaint was with the Prieto your driver. He picked us up at 12p on the day we were to fly home. Our flight was leaving Punta Cana at 2:30p, so we had plenty of time. He received a call while we were on our way to the airport. He said he had another pick up at the Barcelo Resort. We went  to one of their lobby's and waited and waited...no one came. So driver went and checked the other lobby at this massive resort. Still no one was there to pickup. This took about 45 minutes of extra time. When we got to the airport the lines were extremely long. We almost didnt make our flight!! My husband and I also spent about a week, after getting home, with fevers and stomach issues. Always a risk you take when traveling to another country. Overall we had an amazing time:)

No complaints

First time out of the country and was pleasantly surprised. I think complaints are mainly from people used to cruises or American resorts, and this has more of a Dominican style to it. Yes, us Americans feel out of place being out of our element with the language, but we had no problem, remember, you're not in the USA. The rooms smell musty the first day only because they dont keep the air on in unoccupied rooms to be environmentally conscious. Turn the air on and go to the beach, it goes away. However the rooms were spotless, the service was friendly and the resort was meticulous even while left in its natural state (and no bugs!!!) Yes, there are time share guys hanging around, just be firm and walk on, they leave you alone. But we stuck with our Apple travel rep and planned excursions and asked questions with no problems. The casino is small, but you can spend all night in there for only $20 USA. The excursion guides (Jonathan was awesome) are educational and fun, but beware the mountain one is a bumpy ride!!! Remember to tip even in all inclusive, these employees work hard, long hours. The food is different, but not dangerous. I work in the food industry and saw no safety issues. But between the humidity and the coconut oil, it can work on you. Bring anti diarrhea meds, sunscreen and aloe and you'll be fine. The Sea Pro employees showed us a great time para sailing and helping us catamaran, and the Animation Team has activities all day long on the beach and pool for adults and kids. All in all, I would chose this over an American Resort any day. If I wanted USA style, I can stay in Florida.
