hotel was very badly set up if we wern't so far from home we would have just left. restaurants were very expensive and gave very little food. all events hotel provided were very poor at best. hotel was nearly impossible to find. overall island was ok and people were very nice but wee would never go back and would never stay at another hilton again. we would probably not use travelocity again.

From Mold to Fresh with better ocean view

Pros: Free Internet, hammocks, convenient to old san juan
My husband and I stayed at the Villas for three nights (April 4- April 7, 2011). Initially, we were given a very smelly room with a view of construction. After complaining, we were given a new fresh room with an ocean view! The room had a ceiling fan, new stainless steel applicances , and a stand-in tile shower . Most of all sleeping in the hammocks at the hotel was priceless. Oh- the ignuans, swans, and other native animals also enjoy all the attention. Look for the siamese cat that I fell in love with it. Overall, the staff is satisfactory. Some are very friendly and helpful. Starbucks is on the premises. We ate at Sub-Way for breakfast and hit Old San Juan for real drinks and ethnic food. Check out Maria's for authentic drinks(Pina Coladas) & La Cafe Princessa ( a little pricey but worth it)! Take the bus- right across from Sub-Way (near hotel) and take a taxi back if you stay late. Enjoy! We did!

Good location, nice restaurants but

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet
the beach wasn't very nice (small and rough sand) but the pools made up for it. If you like to walk you can hike into town (45 Mns) but there is also a bus stop right at the hotel's entrance. The staff was very nice and accommodations were wonderful

The hotel is comfortable and on a beautiful beach.

Pros: Free Internet
Cons: Nothing close, expensive
The staff was very. Pleasant and efficient. Food was of good quality. When inquiring about restaurants. Very. Little info was given. Iwould like to recommend cafe Puerto Rico. For. Delicious local food. Tha mafungo with steak was delicious as well as the pistachio flan. The Latin roots. Restaurant had delicious lechon. And salsa lessons in the evening. Both require reservations. Both in old San Juan We stayed at the caribe Hilton hotel not the lagoon. The hotel was severely overpriced for all food. Also a $20 a day resort fee. For what I have no clue Parking is an additional $16 per day. The cab rude from the hotel to old San Juan was $12 per way.

Don't take the kids

Their are kid friendly activities and safe water locations, but all food is expensive....no where to get a reasonable breakfast. no where to get a reasonable anything. the line at Starbucks was very long. Service is on Island time. Hotel is spacious and well maintained with glamourous water views. Good exercise club.

Don't Waste Your Money or Your Precious Vacation Time

I don’t usually write reviews because I respect that everyone has different perceptions and preferences, but my experience at this hotel was so bad I decided to make an exception. I only hope this will help save someone else’s vacation. The beach at the Caribe Hilton is a filthy patch of sand littered with cigarette butts, trash and (no joke!) dirty tampons. The beach area wasn’t cleaned during my four-day stay. The moldy lawn chairs are in short supply and if you’re lucky enough to find one or two unoccupied you have to drag them across the crowded beach area and try to cram yourself between hundreds of guests competing for space. On the one occasion I asked for a beach umbrella they refused to put one up because of the wind despite the fact that there were a dozen umbrellas already up for other guests (those were there before the wind, they told me). The tropical garden is a small, dirty area filled with miserable-looking birds and copious amounts of bird droppings. Bird droppings also adorn most of the outdoor dining furniture which also was never cleaned during our stay. My ocean-view room was actually a view of the small bay framed by other hotels, a bridge with heavy traffic, and construction cranes. Low flying airplanes, traffic and construction noise were constantly disruptive. The food at the hotel restaurants was flavorless and overpriced. It was truly bad food. Bottom line: don’t waste your money or your precious vacation time at this hotel.

Great place for a family

My family has stayed at the Caribe Hilton twice, and enjoyed both stays. My only complaint is the dining options are limited, and there is nothing within walking distance.

Big family-type resort hotel. If you want to just rest and relax, this is a good place to do it. But watch out: everything is hugely priced.

Pros: Free Internet, beach spa
Cons: Nothing close, family tour bus convention oriented
Distinguish in which building of the several on this campus is your room and its view. The Tower is the original Hilton built in 1950 and the upper floors have fabulous view of the fort and the ocean. The Lagoon side sees the lagoon and the city. Not bad, but not the ocean. The "Lagoon Villas" have really nice rooms, ours was a junior suite with kitchenette (no, silverware, no pots, no plates, no trash can, no kitchen towels, no knives or serving tools, in short zero. And the kitchen drawers do not open because of the placement of the fridge. They really don't expect you to cook there, and you won't. But the fridge and the microwave are handy for drinks and snacks. Our view was of the lagoon, but we did get to see the ocean also beyond the edge of the adjoining building. So it was really fine enough. Air conditioning compressor on the roof of the next building over was really a constant roar, blotting the roar of the ocean completely. Bed was big and comfy. Dinner for two at Morton's Steak House on the grounds cost $250.00. A martini is $15. Eat breakfast at the Pina Collada Club, not the big breakfast buffet. The pancakes at Pina Collada are superb and cost half the $15 you'll pay in the hotel dining room. Plus the coffee is worlds better at Pina Collada than in the hotel proper. All these are right on the grounds.
