The design and presumptive price point of this hotel is frankly ridiculous. The practice of adding 'destination fee' as a hidden charge is despicable. They bait-and-switched on pet fee and pets allowed, then overcharged anyway. The idea of charging for parking in this area is crazy. The layout of the hotel is awkward and not secure - there are multiple unsecured ways to get into the hotel day or night. There was evidence of illegal drug use in semi-public areas. There is an unfinished and unsecured building as part of the hotel complex. I will be looking for another place to stay in the future.

I normally don’t post reviews but my stay is not pleasant at all. We stayed near the elevator and I didn’t sleep very well. I can hear every time it moves. It’s just a hassle to move stuff with 2 kids that’s why I didn’t bother to ask to be moved.

Great place to stay for family
Our stay at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla was really great. The front desk was really nice and welcoming when we checked it. We were on the 10th floor which offered some nice views. The room itself was pretty spacious and clean. The dressers are a must whenever I'm in a hotel. The bathroom countertop held a lot of our toiletries and accessories. The 2 queen beds for our family of 4 was just right and we all enjoyed a good night's sleep. The facility had some nice amenities. My husband and I enjoyed hangout by the fire pit at night. Their swimming pool area is also nice. Next time, I'll make sure to bring my tennis gear so I can try out their courts. The hotel itself is pretty central to where we need to be. It's right across UCSD and it's close to a lot of nice restaurants and places to eat. This place is also close to the beaches in the La Jolla area. I highly recommend this place.
