Decent hotel, convenient DT PHX location.

The hotel was pretty decent, just needs a little updating. Also, they have a 'No Smoking' policy in all rooms. Cleary, the people in the room next to mine did not get that memo. Everyday for three days straight I was assaulted by the smell of marijuana coming from their room and filling the hallway. Which caused my allergies to flare up. I complained to the front desk, but they did nothing. Other than that, the hotel was fine. I loved how convenient the hotel was to ASU downtown Phoenix campus, it made it easy for me to see my son who attends that campus. Bottom line, I would stay here again.

Hotel room was unconfortable

The room temperature was reading 81 degrees. But the thermostat was set at 50 so something was wrong. It was running constantly and never shut off. It was quite hot and uncomfortable. A staff member randomly accessed the room with the belief it was unoccupied. That was a little upsetting and I did notify desk staff.

Worst hotel stay

The hallways and room smelled like an ash tray even though the hotel claims that it is 100% smoke free. The room next to us was smoking and due to the poor ventilation in the hotel, all the smoke traveled to our room through our bathroom vents. I was nauseated and had to make a complaint. The hotel staff did absolutely nothing and just said "Yeah, I know. I hate it when that happens." Terrible customer service! Terrible ventilation.

Pros: The breakfast was very tasty. The beds were comfortable.
Cons: The Hotel could edit their ad and tell the truth.
I was totally taken aback by my stay. The first thing was, was that the only meal that was provided was breakfast (and I had to pay for that). Not as described in the ad there was no room service and no dinner served as to what I expected. There were no microwaves in the room. Also when using the computer you were only permitted 10 minutes.

Do not stay here

Hotel and staff are awful. Had over booked and couldn't have cared less about those that showed up late at night and didn't have a room to go with their reservation. (there was a big event in town so they could get away with this). We did get a room but I'm not sure which was worse. Bottom sheet had a large smudge on it, toilet had a large dark ring at the waterline, rugs and furniture were old and in rough condition. Do not stay here!

Great location. Friendly staff

While the hotel was clean and comfortable, the friendly and attentive staff is why we will stay here again next year.

Like a lot of hotels, the lobby doesn't match the rest of the hotel. The lobby is nice and fancy but when you take a few steps beyond it, it turns into small dirty hallways. Check in/out was easy although there was a reserve plus the room charge. The sign out front was hard to see, so we missed it the first time even though we have a GPS. The heat didn't work even though we asked the front desk to fix it. Bed was hard. Shower was decent. No exhaust in the bathroom. Parking was limited, extra space was shared with another hotel in a garage which was a little scary to walk from at night. Breakfast was over priced, nothing complimentary. Black out curtains were good. We didn't use the fridge, microwave, or coffee maker. Housekeeping was decent. Hope I covered everything. Overall, not the worst hotel I've ever stayed in but I'm not impressed either.

A fresh coat of paint

Pros: the fresh coat of paint
Cons: Bring it up to the standard it is trying to compete with.
This is one of those properties where an investment group has come in and purchased a dilapidated hotel that really needed to be taken down to the ground. But, instead they have slapped up some new illusions of class (like the eating area in front) and some fresh paint; however, the infrastructure such as the plumbing fails to produce hot water (luke warm at best). The heating/ac system is either one or the other and we required a 30 min wait for the one employee on duty (can you say English is certainly NOT my first language) at the desk to come up and use a pole device to turn on the ac fr the sweltering 90 degree room....all this after flopping open the filthy air filter access, causing a dust cloud in the room. In the am, no hot water; my wife was offered a key to a 9th floor room where she was afforded 4 min of hot water then it turned cold. And, parking; you have to walk 150 yards past a nice hotel to get to your marginal accommodation from a non-secured parking garage--something out of a Zombie Apocalypse

rooms nice - temp control/smell not so much

Pros: location, room layout
Cons: stench, a/c functionality
The rooms have been updated, are clean and comparable to what you'd get with a chain. Unfortunately, the hallways and rooms have a lingering stench of cigarette smoke that was annoying to me, but maybe not to someone else who wanted a great room at a great price. They also have issues with the heating/cooling, where in most rooms, it's either on or off. This isn't so great in the summer when you want the comfort of a/c and the quiet of the unit providing it.
