Great Location, Multiple Visits, Multiple Failures

This hotel could be awesome, but it isn't even close.  Mediocre at best.  I stay in Philly regularly and enjoy staying downtown near old town.  I've tried all the Marriott brand options in the area and this one is by far my least favorite.  Three visits in a row I've experienced extremely slow Valet parking service.  The first visits they refunded my valet fees because they were so slow I was late to my meetings for the day.  Their policy is 30 min minimum to retrieve a car, which I find unacceptable because I've called down with 30 min advance and the car still wasn't ready!  Hire another Valet person!   The physical hotel is getting run down. I had serious noise and water issues this trip.  Water pipes made pounding noises if any nearby rooms were using water.  Of course when engineering came up there was no noise.  However the noise happened every day.  And my shower would STOP RUNNING,  make pounding noises, then slowly restart.  I told them about it and the staff acts like this never has happened before they it has happened on two of my three stays.  I think they have serious problems and are just covering them up. There are at least three other Marriott band hotels within a block of this one.  I'll not come back to this one and use the others.

Loved the view of City Hall

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet
The room had random patched kitchen counters. I really appreciated the front desk staff's helpfulness, particularly the evening staff. Great views too!

Excellent Location, Very Comfortable Room

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, location, transportation
I stayed here during a weekend trip to Philadelphia and was very happy with my decision for this hotel. The rooms are clean and very large, with a comfortable king size bed, large bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, and large living area. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is free wireless internet in the rooms, as well as a business center on the lower level. The fitness room looked great, but unfortunately I did not have time to use it myself. Another plus is the free breakfast buffet, although I would recommend getting there early on the weekends as the line gets very long. The location of the hotel is excellent, right next to City Hall, and in walking distance to the historical sites and many other attractions. I always felt safe in the area around the hotel. A subway stop is right around the corner, and transportation to and from the airport is quick and easy. There is also a stop for the Phlash shuttle right in front of the hotel that will take you to all of the attractions. There are a number of shops and restaurants nearby.

Residence Marriot in the Heart of Philly

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, close to historical sites, across from city hall
The hotel is very clean and well secured. The location is central and in the heart of historical sites and across from the city hall. Close to everything you may need on a vacation and also offers a self serve delicious big breakfast, coffee, juice, or if you prefer a continental breakfast. Take your choice of whatever you need to crave your hunger. Philly cheese steaks are awesome at the reading market-2 blocks away and if that isnt what you need there are numerous other offerngs there or nearby. Historical and interesting sites are within walking distance or if you prefer trolleys are nearby and can take you to the the oldest zoo or rocky steps or the original whitehouse. Take a horse and carriage ride and get a good insight into what makes Philadelphia special and memorable.

Gorgeous place but not for pets & parking expensive

Absolutely gorgeous hotel and very professional and helpful staff. We almost always choose Residence Inn hotels because they are pet friendly and predictably spacious, clean and accommodating. This hotel also accepted our dogs but the only place for them to do their 'duty' was a small strip of dirt & gravel up the block & around the corner. It was cold and rainy during our stay as well and consequently our dogs chose to 'hold it' more than 24 hrs.which required us to cancel the next 2 days. Also, the ONLY parking available is valet for $*/ noc and requires a 20 minute advance notice to pick up your car.

excellent stay

The room, staff and all facilaties were excellent. My two small children and I settled in with popcorn and hot chocolate that the hotel provided after they enjoyed the pool. It was a great stay, and I would highly reccomend the hotel to families and/or buisness travelers.

Great Center City Location!

We usually spend a weekend in the city around Christmas. This was our first time at the Residence Inn. The location is perfect for seeing and doing just about anything in the downtown area. This central location is within walking distance of museums, shopping, theaters and historical sites. The hotel is directly across the street from City Hall. We had a great view of the clock tower and beautiful architecture of the Historic City Hall. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking is available, but pricey. Next time we'll take the train into town.
