Avoid at all costs

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
Location: Close to Airport
First room I got in - The Bathroom Sink Tap was hard to operate and didn't have any cold water. The shower water was scalding hot and the door for the bathroom was very hard. My daughter got locked in and it was struggle to open the door. The request to get the water fixed in the bathroom and clean the room wasn't honored when I got back after the day was over. I was offered another room for next two nights. The bathroom water temperature was better here, but bathroom wasn't super clean and door lock had the same issue. The complimentary breakfast was so bad. The eggs were runny and almost all the guests that were there avoided eating them. There was no sugar for tea/coffee ( only sweeter) and I was told that the hotel does not have any more sugar packets . When I switched rooms , there was another guests who had issues and she was also offered another room. I was mtg to get my water bottled filled up by the staff, when one of the guests gave me indication , not to trust the water and I ended up not getting my water filled up there. The view is excellent for sure but the area the hotel is in, gives you the creeps. I wasnt very comfortable checking in at 1 am . Nothing happened but it was just the feeling of unsafely that you feel. Also , they have 16 floors, and one working ( kind of) elevator which takes its own sweet time to come up and down. never written any reviews, but I would not want anyone else to have to experience what I experienced

Dirty, poor condition

So luckily I only stayed one night. The hotel is pretty "Ghetto" to be honest. Black smudges on room walla, black stains on shower floor, needs to be painted bad. I know the photos look great but it seems they just put up-dated furnishings in a up-dated hotel. Only has 2 elevators and one was broken, so it took 15 minutes to go up or down from your room. I actually took the stairs down because it was quicker and I was on the 14th floor. I spoke with one of the employees and he said the elevator had been broken for awhile and probably would never be fixed. They didn't even have trash bags in the garbage cans, I mean come on!!! The one good thing was there was a really good 24 hour diner right across the street. Otherwise the neighborhood was shakes, the while place left a lot to be desired. Since you were in the elevator forever or waiting forever I was able to talk to many quests all who said they would never stay here again. I know about 5 min up the road in the business district there is like 4 other hotels try those.

I wouldn't go back.

We got there and check in time is at 4 pm, we got there at 5:15 and waited an HOUR because they said the room isn't ready and there was more people waiting there also. The place is falling apart and unfinished. The elevator for some reason takes about 10 mins until it gets to us, it's very slow. Very unorganized place. I wish I read the reviews like I did afte I booked. Also apparently the $100 deposit takes 10 business days to be given back! I will never go back and honestly that place is a train wreck.

See photos! Read reviews!

Pros: If it was remodeled it would have made a great vintage hotel but it wasn't.
Cons: The worst was no cold water.
Location: Penrose Diner was good.
I should've done my research beforehand! The hotel photos showcased the updated lobby and other select areas. We didn't have anything of the sort. The room, to spite being obviously old and run-down, was relatively clean. No bed bugs, no roaches, beds were relatively comfortable. Also, I should mention before I really get into it, the staff was friendly and helpful for the most part. It all kind-of falls apart after that. Once you step out of the lobby and into an elevator you soon realize you might've overpaid. The one working elevator is slow and smelled bad. One of the lights was hanging out of the fixture worse than Glenn's last scene on Walking Dead. When we got to our floor it was more evident. The hallway was pretty creepy feeling. Very plain, lots of patch jobs around, nothing very inviting. The ice machine or something had been removed from its nook and left a big dirty empty space. The door latch took several tries to get it to open with the key card. Walking in we were greeted with yet more of the same and more. The bathroom door had no latch. The handle was falling off. There were stains on the walls and the paint was something my 7 year old could've done as well. The most bizarre annoyance was the water. We had NO COLD WATER!!! When we turned on the water, no matter which side, it was HOT! And hot immediately! Even the toilet water was hot! If we put it to the cold side it would eventually run warm but only after about 5 minutes, and even then it was uncomforta

Nothing worked

Pros: Not much, the staff was friendly but did not follow through on our requests to fix the phone or deliver a working coffee machine.
Cons: EVERYTHING. I understand the elevator was broken but it caused problems as the hotel staff would lock up the elevator as they were cleaning the rooms
Location: We wanted something close to Citizens National ballpark and that was the only truth in the ad. Room photos were not even close.
The room itself was okay, with the bed being quite comfortable, but that's where it ends. The phone didn't work, the TV remote only would lower volume. The hotel had only ONE working elevator so thank god we were not on a high floor. The coffee machine did not have the tray in order to make the coffee, we were only given one set of towels. The staff had no clue about the free shuttle and we paid for a cab to take us to the hotel, even though we asked several times with several different phone calls. The location was great though in terms of its proximity to the ballpark but I would never stay there again. The pictures posted are EXTREMELY deceiving because it did NOT in anyway resemble what we saw when we arrived.

Okay hotel, just needs some major updating

Pros: Location
Cons: Wifi needs to be reliable!
The hotel location is great, within walking distance of subway system etc. Problems that I found were these: the hotel says that it has free wifi, and there were several options on wifi, Penrose hotel, Penrose 8A, 8B, 5A, 5B,6A... They had all these different options, but not a single one actually worked. My laptop managed to stay connected to one for less than a minute, but then the wifi was dropped. My Samsung tablet and iPhone never managed to get connected to any signal for more than a couple seconds before it was dropped. The elevator was in need of major tuning, both of them made lots of noise when in operation and many of the buttons didn't light up so you didn't know if they were pressed or not. Lastly, and I know that this is similar in many other hotels, I hate that it is impossible to check in before 4:00. If I hadn't driven there and wasn't able to store my bag in my car then I would have had to walk all of Philly and the conference that I was attending dragging a rolling bag behind me. I arrived at 11:30 which is after the mandatory checkout and I didn't even want to go into whatever room I was going to be in, but it would be nice to just store my bag somewhere so that I wouldn't have to keep it.

Pros: nothing
Cons: Hotel needs a lot of maintenance. The drywall around the electrical outlet was open. The caulking around sink was excessive.
Location: Many things to do in Philadelphia, PA.
I asked for a non-smoking, and was given a non-smoking. However, upon entering the room, it smelled of smoke. The rug wasn't clean. The drywall around outlets were exposed. There was no ventilation in the bathroom. The drywall around corners weren't joined properly, with excessive joint-compound made it look like a cheap fix.
