The Hilton is a four-star hotel but very disappoin

Pros: The Hilton is a very beautiful hotel with great amenities
Cons: The Hilton is a very beautiful hotel with great amenities
The Hilton is a four-star hotel but very disappointing experience. On August 21 myself my daughter and sister stayed at the Hilton Hotel on city Avenue in Philadelphia. Our experience with less than comfortable. We hope to stay in two double beds but was disappointed only one king size bed. We requested a pull out bed and was declined. We requested a blanket and cupsto be used and had to wait several hours before they were delivered. They were very few electrical outlets to charge our devices. My expectation for is a Hilton or I assume would be more comfortable and enjoyable.

Average hotel, paying for the name, no free extras.

Pros: Quiet
Cons: No free Internet, Poor breakfast, no free breakfast
My wife and I were traveling to Philadelphia for a wedding and the downtown hotels were booked, so we stayed at this Hilton, which was much cheaper than the downtown hotels, but we figured it would still be very nice since it was a Hilton. The day before, we called and asked about possibly checking in early since check-in is at 5:00 PM, which does not work for a wedding that day. The front desk, understandably, said that they would note our account and see what they could. Upon arrival, we were able to check-in early, although calling ahead had nothing to do with it. They hadn't done anything special like prepare one of the room types that we had booked first. We had to take a lower quality room and weren't offered any reimbursement, but we were checking in early, so that is partially my fault. Our room was decent size, there was plenty of floor space for my wife to do Yoga, everything was clean, and well maintained for the most part. Otherwise, there was no free internet in the room. It had to be purchased. Also, there were no complimentary waters or anything other than the complimentary standard coffee in the room. The television was pretty much pay-per-view for movies, but basic cable was free. After the wedding, we were still a little hungry, but most of the places nearby were closed other than some small pizza places. The next morning, I was looking forward to a grabbing something light thinking that there was a continental breakfast of some sort, but it was around $25 if I wanted a full breakfast with eggs, waffles, etc. or around $15 if I just wanted to get cold foods (cereal, muffins, juice). Other than the free coffee in the room, there was nothing to be had without paying at least $15, so we opted to eat elsewhere. Also, the hotel employees, other than the lady seating in the restaurant in the morning, essentially ignored us the whole time. At the end of the day, I'm sure they have their business reasons for operating this way, but I expected more personally. My recommendation would be to look elsewhere for a hotel in the area that offers more for your money.

Decent hotel, convenient location

Pros: Quiet
Cons: No free Internet, Nothing close
This hotel was mostly great. Parking was difficult unless you wanted to pay for valet parking- either park on the street (limited) or down the street in a dirt lot (not good when it's raining). TV was surprisingly hard to use, kept cutting out during our pay-per-view movie, which was annoying. Bar prices were high ($9-11 for a glass of chardonnay? really?). Breakfast buffet was very good and easy. Very stingy on the shampoo/conditioner - three of us staying, and only one tiny bottle of each. You have to pay for internet, which I think is ridiculous.

Great Time

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
We had a comfortable stay at the Hilton. The room was spacious and they provided additional sitting( large comfortable leather chair with ottoman) and a refigerator. I would stay there again.

Cons: No free Internet
I would never stay at the Hilton in Phil again after paying what I did to stay there on a family vacation I had two rooms getting back our rooms on our first day there the Maid turn and told my sister in law and myself that she hadn't gotten to our rooms but she can give us fresh towels if we like and this 530pm my brother call guest service and all we got out of them were we are sorry. I had been to many Hiltons and this one by far was the worst service we ever had goten

All of the staff were very friendly and the housekeepers did a great job.

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
The accommodations were good but my only complaint was that they kept the lobby very cold and uncomfortable to sit in.

Good choice for short stays.

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: No free Internet
This is a good choice if you don't have to stay downtown. Food was great, bar was more entertaining than TGIF down the street, and the beds are very comfortable. The pool is shallow but well-heated. Use the self-parking lot - much less than valet!

Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue

This is a reasonable hotel to stay in if you want to be just outside the city, not in city center. It's on a busy, congested commercial strip near shopping centers and office buildings. The traffic in the area was bad, even on a Sunday afternoon, and there was no free parking. Valet parking ($10) was a better option than self-park ($5, but down a hill from the hotel). The hotel was clean, the room was ample size, and the bed was comfortable. The climate control in the room couldn't be adjusted very exactly, so it was either too warm or too cold. The decor was a little dated and past its prime. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Boring with Bad Service

The rooms were ok. I can't complain. But two things that I didn't enjoy were the service and the location. I was there for a business convention with a co-worker. When we went to eat in the lobby lounge, we were ignored. We had to ask for service several times on two different occassions. As for the location, there is no entertainment or shopping near by. So, during our down time, the only leisure we found was to walk to the grocery store a few blocks away. This hotel is in the middle of a neighborhood.

Excellent Stay!

Great service following horrendous Holiday Inn City Avenue experience. The Hilton staff was extremely friendly, courteous and responsive, the rooms were clean and comfortable, dining was excellent. Parking was slightly inconvenient, but extremely affordable ($5 per night) in a guarded lot that was down the street. I would definitely stay here again!
