We were pressured to attend a marketing session for the property at the time of check-in when we were tired. Staff bugged us again the next morning after we had cancelled an appointment the night before. Jets in the bath tub did not work. Elevator was filthy and smelly. Trash in the parking lot.

It’s a short walk to the beach or to the dock. The pools are always great Our room wasn’t ready for check in when we arrived, once inside the bed wasn’t made and the room wasn’t very clean.

Check in was a nightmare....got wrong room with people already in room...directions were wrong and had trouble finding check in.....pool was shut down due to renovations...other pool was supposed to be heated and wasn't...had to park on street with no parking...bugs were bad at the playground and putt putt area..

MUST VISIT THIS ISLAND AND STAY AT WYNDHAM

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, well maintained
After seeing many reviews on the Wyndham resort; we were a little uneasy on how our stay would be. DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ, KIND OF LIKE THE MEDIA LOL! We stayed in the Village, about a block over from St. Helena Sound and approx a mile or so from a beach access. Another Wyndham property is located on the sound, there is swimming available there and beach access, you can see tons of dolphin there. The water in the sound is very calm compared to the beach. At the Village where we stayed, the pool was actually the courtyard area surrounded by the different buildings,approx 10-12 buildings. They also have seating and grills around the area. The carport under the building to park was nice and there is additional parking if needed. There were 4 units in our building. We stayed in a one bedroom with a pull out couch that worked well for the three of us. The unit was nicely decorated; very clean. Pool was well maintained and they did have an attendent on hand to make sure patrons entering the area stayed at the Wyndham. ( alot of rental houses around the area) They could use more umbrella tables for shade purposes. The resort itself was located about 2-3 minutes away, walkable. Staff was friendly and very informative. Played mini golf, there is a wild alligator in the lagoon behind the course and pool area. The restaurant on site is very nice! The food and service were excellent. The beach was not overcrowded, that was nice..if staying in the sun definitely bring some type of shade. We had a canopy that worked real well. No major shopping at all, but I was not there to shop LOL Some nice eateries, nothing fancy, but the food and service was good. (except the service at the Sea Cow; the food was good but the hostess and our server need a personality...was not impressed!! Watch out for the floor board when entering the porch area by the register; my son tripped...that thing needs to be painted yellow or somthing!) We shall be back some day for sure! Very relaxing - laid back place.

relaxing

We also were very fearful of our stay. My mom booked her timeshare and then I read the reviews right before we were ready to leave. (I came across these reviews from another web-site). It was nothing like the reviews. The check in person was very nice. The room was clean. The beach had maybe 5 other people on it. My mom did call them before going and brought up the reviews. They were aware of the reviews and said they have are updating rooms and have addressed reviews from the past. They have a new cleaning crew. I can say the room next to us was being cleaned and they were in there for well over an hour. Which is way better than other places that clean quickly and move on. They could use a dead bolt type lock. But, the area on the island seemed to be very safe. We had a one bedroom in Marsh Point outside of the gated area. Pool was warm and I watched the person opening the pool checking water quality. They did convince my mom to do the additional info of her timeshare, which could be a sales trap. She felt NO pressure, they gave her info asked if she was interested in upgrading her points. She said no and they said o.k. She actually received some good information on the updated things the timeshare offers with points. And she got a $* gift card and we all ate a free lunch to receive her updated info. Took about 2hrs.

852 Oak Grove

We were delighted. Check in was extremely prompt and courteous,our accomodations were just lovely! Before we went I had checked the reviews and was fearful of what I would find! None of those problems existed for us. Everything was perfect! The rooms were immaculate,the linens were fresh and everything was so comfortable. I left a note thanking the resort and the condo owner,which I don't always do. By the way my husband and I travel a good bit both domestically and to Europe ,and this was just great! Our stay was the week of september 11th,2009. Kathy and Joe Smith
