We froze

Our rooms heater and tv did not work. My adult daughter and I had to share a bed even though our room had 2 queens.. The bedding was so light it did not comfort us much. The staff did nothing to reciprocate for the huge inconvienencw. We checked in just to sleep but we couldn't sleep in because it was 52 degrees in our room.

Would not go back

The heater didn't work and the bed only had a very thin blanket on it. We called the office but nobody answers after hours. We didn't sleep at all and had an event to go to the next day. The bathroom was not clean. There was mold and if someone else turned on their shower ours would go cold. We left early to go to our event so tried calling all day but only got an answering machine. When we got back they took us to another room but they couldn't get the heater to work there either. We returned to our room to find the heater working if we keep it at 90 degrees. We were told we had a newly remodeled room which as you can tell was not the case. The light in the ceiling would flicker when we'd turn it on. This is my first time going thru Travelocity and am sad it didn't work out. I was looking for a company I can trust and go thru for my travel needs. I don't mind quaint but I need clean & warm for that kind of money.

10 minute drive to UC Berkeley

Pros: Affordable and close to UC Berkeley:)
Cons: No air conditioning-when we first entered the room it was a bit stuffy but once we turned on fan and opened the windows it cooled off.
Location: San Francisco across the Bay, Berkeley and Oakland nearby. Whole Foods is just down the street and Trader Joe a few blocks away.
This little travel lodge was quaint and cozy located 10 minutes from campus. My daughter attends the university and we needed an affordable place to stay. The motel is old but clean. The staff was very nice and accommodating. I heard another guest comment that they were staying in "the cottage" so that might be something to explore for next time.

Cheap and the room needs new carpet. Cute exterior

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: Noisy
The room was not very soundproof. I thought it was clean and there were nice touches to the exterior of handpainted flowers around the windows. The room was very clean.

Cheap and Clean

Pros: no idea
Bed comfortable, walls thin, shower hot. Nothing fancy in any regard. Wish they would have mentioned how to turn on the heat, in that I arrived pretty late. Overall, just fine for sleeping, showering and leaving.

Overpriced, out dated

Pros: Free Internet
Cons: Nothing close, Noisy, over priced, not clean
This is a small motel with about half of the rooms along a busy street. Unfortunately, there are no close places to eat breakfast and the motel only offers free coffee. There has been an attempt at updating an essentially 50s motel by adding microwaves, small refrigerators, and free wifi. Unfortunately, the wifi only erratically reaches about half the rooms. The rooms are not well cleaned. It is a poor value; perhaps at half the posted rate, it would be OK for a day or two.

At Least the Rats Didn't Have Knives

NO AIR-CONDITIONING!! Room smelled like a sewer. Stains looked like previous occupant had dirrhea/bowel problems and loosed themselves upon the bed and floor with ineffective clean-up. Seriously gross!! Felt it neccessary to wear shoes at all times. 1950's throw-back cheap motel. Moldy shower. Even TV had non-functioning remote. Office staffed by teen-agers. Would give rating of "0" (zero)-Stars, but doesn't seem to be that option. Location in relation to our visit ws only major plus. Would have left if room was not prepaid

Needs better management

Hotel office did not open until 8 am. No one actually showed up until 8:25 am. Heat was on all night in our unit and others. Had to keep the fan on and keep windows open since no one could turn it off. Only price and proximity to UC Berkeley were worthwhile.

Golden Bear, Americas Best Value Inn Berkeley

I wasn't expecting this hotel to be great, but it was actually fabulous! I typically travel in high style, but chose this one because of it's closeness to the classes I was attending. I will definitely stay here again when I return. The room was clean and comfortable, had a little refrigerator and microwave, a wonderful FAN mounted in the corner of the room (which, along with the cool California air, made sleeping quite comfy, and drowned out any noise). Parking was great - right outside my door. The motel is right in the middle of an area that is filled with restaurants (including a great cafe across the street that is open for breakfast and lunch). I will be returning to the area at least once a year, and I plan on returning to this hotel - GREAT value, friendly service, clean and convenient... even has a gas station across the street for refilling the rental car! A+ in my book!!!!
