Expensive but location is great.

We stayed in the older/main part of the hotel. The hotel room is pretty big but I think they should change out the carpets and install laminate/tiles instead. Easier to clean and not as musty smelling. The location and service are the main reason we stay in this hotel. It's right on the beach and in heart of Waikiki. It's close to plenty of shopping and food places. The hotel is smaller so there's not hundreds of people in the lobby which I like. The hotel gym sucks but you can use the much better gym in the Sheraton Waikiki which is next door for free as long as you bring your room card.

My expectation was too high

Day of my arrival, my bed had sand underneath the covers, they also had ant problems. They gave my parents the wrong room did not have our hotel package ready. There was some issues with parking at their garage where the garage attendant and hotel have different policies... Just pay extra for valet parking. The best parts: The hotel was beautiful and pink. It is right next to the beach and just breathtaking. Also, my wife wanted me to give a shout out to the cleaning lady, she was very friendly and helpful.

Best Trip Ever!

Pros: Customer Service, location, view of Waikiki, and the ability to walk to everything we could possibly need.
Cons: Nothing.
One of the reasons we love this hotel is because we are always treated like family. Thank you to Mike Nakada, Roland, Evelyn Alanda and Lawrence. They were all very helpful and attentive. The reason we return. Chuck and the beach services staff are friendly and accommodating on the best beach on Waikiki. It is so relaxing just to sit and enjoy the view. The tower view of the ocean and Diamond Head is amazing. The sunset is beautiful. We love the historic section of this hotel, but the tower is a fun change of pace. We absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone considering a trip to Oahu. It is peaceful and the surrounding gardens are beautiful and well maintained. Mahalo to our Hawaiian family.

Nice hotel, prepare to be NICKEL AND DIMED!!

My wife and I spent a week at the hotel for an anniversary trip. Although the hotel is nice enough, with good food options and a friendly staff, the feeling of being nickel and dimed EVERY day while paying a high nightly rate left us with a terrible taste in our mouth. I would not recommend this hotel based purely on that feeling of fees upon fee upon fee coming up every day of our trip. Pros: Nice (small) rooms, friendly staff (with one exception, see below), good food on the hotel grounds Cons: Pool/beach chairs is a serious issue and really can ruin the experience. Whether it is waking up at 8am to see all pool chairs 'reserved' (and then sit unused until much later in the day), or shelling out $50 per day for chairs/umbrella on the beach (because this is sensibly the only other option), you really should be able to expect more from a "five star" hotel with a nice price tag. Daily resort fee is high, given that most people wont use the amenities that the fee is intended to cover. Finally, in a very fitting manner, at the end of our stay we called for a late check out, which the hotel said they would happily give us at the friendly price of $75 for TWO HOURS later check out. Talk about leaving a sour taste. Nice hotel ruined by excessive gouging on top of already high prices. Can't recommend this place.

What a nice hotel and staff

I used my SPG points and got a free upgrade to a corner suit with garden view. Service is beyond great, we got cold juice and cold towel while checking in. Free banana bread with recipe to take home with us. Very Very clean bathroom. I will highly recommend anyone to stay here. There are multiple pools shared with next door hotel. kids slide, endless pool, beach front. Great exp.

THE hotel in Honolulu, expensive for basic room, location plus

Pros: Quiet
Cons: small bathroom
The hotel was built in the 20's, has old world feel with an island twist. Rooms are well appointed but bathroom size reflects the era it was built. Central to all with a beach area that has the best view in the area.

Not even close to being a 5 star

Pros: Close restaurants
Cons: No free Internet, resort fees, not close to being a 5 star
I have to believe that the folks that have rated this facility with more than 3 stars are either, Inexperienced travelers or employees of Starwood Hotels and Resorts! The "upgraded" garden view rooms are very small, with tiny bathrooms. They talk about their 5 star service and how they want to make your stay wonderful...but that is all it is... just talk. They nickel and dime you for everything, including $40 day for beach lounger chairs! $25 per day for a useless resort fee. The staff is really good at saying "I'm sorry", but never correct the problem you are having. It took the "aloha" spirited staff 4 days to even address my issues. The good news is: the common areas are gorgeous and the hotel could not have a better location.
