Room was not cleaned on a daily basis, there ws no emptying of trash or collection of used towels. Trash and towels had to be taken downstairs.. Had to request room be cleaned, room was cleaned 1 day of 6 night stay. After 3rd day and complaints, clean towels were brought and left at door in hallway. Beds were not made up other than the one day and used towels were never collected. This practice was not revealed to us until a question about why the room had not been cleaned and towels and trash removed. This information was not on the website through travelociity and/or Bamboo Waikiki Hotel. The room was run more like an apartment whereby the tenants clean their own rooms disposing of trash and addressing their own towel issue. Totally unacceptable. Having no other viable choices we stayed.

A good choice

With a little kitchenette and a two block walk to the beach, this is a nice little boutique hotel. It is a little tired looking and the room was dated, but the staff is attentive and friendly and there was a food store and bus stop a block away. We would definitely stay again.

Good value for the money

Pros: wireless only available in lobby
Good value for the money. Short walk to the beach & we requested a room on an upper floor because I had read that there was a lot of street noise at night. Room was small and basic. I had read that the interior was recently renovaed but they did not do a stellar job. For example, someone must have noticed that an area had been missed when our room was repainted and it was touched up BUT with a different color-close but not quite matching. A big plus was that you couldn't hear the neighbors and having a tiny balcony was a nice touch.

Tried Several Hotels, this was the BEST!

It's now August 2011 and I am planning another trip to Hawaii. I was there for 2 months (Aug-Oct) in 2009. I am a single woman and was on my own. I tried several different hotels during the time I was in Waikiki. (I also on Maui). The Aqua Bamboo was my favorite place during that entire stay. I would stay at one hotel for a week, then while walking the streets I would find different hotels that looked interesting. The Bamboo was one of those. I think I stayed there during my third week. I should have stayed for the fourth week too! Everything was close by: grocery stores, movie rentals, fun little shops and good places to eat that weren't pricey. I could get up at sunrise and be at the beach in 2 minutes. I walked in the quiet every morning. I could stay out at night and walk around until all the shops closed and feel completely save by myself - And everyone should know not to be out on the streets after the shops close. On Maui, everything closed down with the sun and it was so dark I didn't even feel safe walking along the beach by myself. I don't sleep well and could come down to the lobby at 3am and there was always someone there to talk to (front desk staff, security, and maintenance were great. I loved the outside pool area. Complete privacy. It's like a secret in the middle of all there big huge hotels. I loved it and will be back in 2011!

There was a roach in my room...

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: no free breakfast, roaches, dirty, pool and spa tub closes at ten, noisy if you get a room facing kuhio ave.
Need I say more...there was a roach in my room...I couldn't sleep well for the next three days after seeing it. Most of the staff are unfriendly. The only upside is the cost and distance from the beach.

Ccould not have been happier - what a welcome!

Pros: Free Internet, friently staff and very clean
I visited in 2010. The hotel was A+ from the friendly, helpful staff to the quaintness of the hotel. It was just wonderful. Just 2 short blocks to the beach and downtown waikiki. I would definately go back.

We never got to stay-- we were sent to another hotel-- not as nice.

We arrived at the hotel and the desk attendant told us there was a plumbing problem (the next day no one seemed to know anything about it) and they would send us to sister hotel-- we were sent to a noisy hotel with a room right above a bar that was open til 2-- with live music. The next day we returned (we were told the first night that we could move back the next day) and we were not allowed to see the room before changing. We felt like it was a bait and switch.
