To small

Everything was very clean but the bathroom smelled bad and the room was too small.

Good location, awkward property.

Pros: Location, bed, cleanliness.
Cons: Fix the tub! Unfortunately in such an old building, I don't imagine there's much room to remodel so the bathroom could be larger.
The view was pretty terrible from my room on the 4th floor. Was looking at rooftops and a building with boarded up windows. The bathroom was ridiculous, SO small. If I held my arms out with my elbow to my side I could touch the door and the mirror over the sink. The toilet was right behind a wall that required sitting sideways. The bottom of the tub was wobbly, as if it was a trampoline fastened in the center. You could stand with your feet apart and go up and down like a see saw. I was disappointed to learn that breakfast wasn't included, I must have misunderstood the website. The restaurant next door is basically a sports bar with bar food. On a positive note - the bed was wonderful with high quality linens. The room was very clean and the staff was very nice.

Great midtown location; old hotel with a facelift

Pros: style, easy, inexpensive during renovation
Location: Midtown, so it's busy busy busy. One or two blocks from the Empire State Building, a 5 minute walk to Penn Station. I definitely picked for location.
Apparently this hotel has been a hotel for a long time. So the core of it is still old (old marble staircases, no central A/C, old elevators). Which gives it a nice sense of history; I kept wondering - who stayed in this room in the 50s? What is super nice is that the staff have lived on with the hotel - the gentleman who checked me in worked there for 20+ years. Which is to say - they are not pretentious, and were genuine and helpful. The room was very nice and comfortable. Being in the heart of midtown, it was loud at night. I would probably stay here again because I like a hotel with character and a story to tell. And I like the modern renovations - it had a cool modern flair built onto an old foundation. I also loved the company they used for soap/shampoo/conditioner - Apotheke, locally sourced from Brooklyn (per the bottle.)

Great location for a short holiday in NY

Pros: It is near the attractions and subway
Location: Herald Square, Times Square, Macy....many more
The hotel is obviously a old hotel considering NY is a old city. However renovations have been carried out and it is very well done. The room is very clean and we have a wonderful view of the Empire State Building. It is also very convenient travelling around the subway and great experience soaking in the Times Square

Great Location

Got into NYC early, and the staff was nice enough to give me an early check-in. There was a renovation in the front lobby because the hotel is under new management. Had to walk through the restaurant to get to the elevator. Elevator was slow. Room was large and clean, had air conditioning and private bathroom. Hotel is adjacent to Herald Square.

Great Hotel and close to Times Square and Broadway

We spent the weekend at Hotel 35 march 13-15. I've stayed at several hotels in the area and this by far is the best one I've stayed in. The staff was the friendliest I've ever dealt with and the most helpful. The room and the bathroom was roomy. It had a very nice closet. I had a wonderful experience. I plan on staying again soon.

Staff went above and beyond

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants
There was a problem with our reservation but the Comfort Inn staff worked it out for us. After waiting in the lobby for about 45 minutes, they checked us right into a room (around noon). Breakfast included with the room was good (breads, scrambled eggs, waffles, cereal, coffee and juice) although seating space was a little tight. We were able to check our luggage for the day we departed. Location great -- a few blocks from the subway, Penn Central Station, and the Empire State Building.
