I had high hopes for this hotel, since my husband had stayed in another Affinia Hotel, in NYC, for business. He raved about the Affinia Dumont. This was not the same level of hotel. We checked in to our room, to find it smelling like dirty socks, then found mold in the bathroom, including a mold smell. After calling the front desk, they promised to send someone up to "freshen" the room. No one showed up, so I went to speak with the manager, who agreed to "upgrade" our room to a deluxe suite. The room wasn't very clean, with makeup on the bathroom door, and the kitchen stove wasn't completely clean either. That said, I'm sure few people actually use the stove in NYC. The bathroom still had some mold, but was better. The bathroom for a deluxe sweet was so tiny, and no room to put toiletries, etc. This hotel's final downfall was the incessant street noise, not even slowing down until well after 3 a.m. This was, hands down, the absolute worst night's sleep of my life. Fire trucks, police, and cabs were honking all night, and could be heard over the air conditioner on "high". The red flag should have been the "complimentary" ear plugs in the night stand. Unless you are immune to noise, make sure you get a room high up in the hotel. This hotel is located in a busy tourist area, across from Madison Square Garden, so it's noisy. The hotel was dimly lit and had older, dirty carpets. My advice, is find a better hotel....not impressed!!!
