Good hotel

As we arrived we were notified that they were switching ownership to the Watson hotel. Staff was very friendly, check in was a breeze. When we got to our room we noticed it could have used some updating in the bathroom. Toilet was hard to flush, hot water had spurts of warm and cold in it a bit. Had to let it run for a little bit to get it hot. But your get what you pay for in the city and this was good enough for us! $95 a night in the city in this area you can't beat! We weren't in room much and served its purpose for us to lay our heads down

Going through Trasition

Holiday Inn Midtown will become the Watson Hotel as of February 14th. As with most transition, things were not as good as could have been . The hotel is older and in need of upgrades in many places; elevators, restaurant, bar etc. Rooms could not be kept comfortable due to old heating system and hot was all you got. But this hotel is within walking distance to many attractions and for us close to family.

good place to stay

Stayed at this hotel with family. Great location. Room sizes are quite large for NYC. Fast elevators. Nice Irish pub up the street. Great Italian restaurant around the corner. Staff very helpful and attentive. Parking attached to hotel. Met one of the owners. Quite a character. Very helpful, lots of fun.

Double check pricing direct.

Great for airlines pricing, I really disappointed when I paid more for my stay than I did when I booked directly with hotel in this incident.

Nice Quiet Hotel, well equipped Hotel

Pros: pool, bar, private
Cons: Longer Pool Hours, add a sofa to the King Room to make it a mini suite
Location: Close to Columbus Circle
Had a great stay on biz trip. Lobby Bar had great prices on food and drink. Wings for $5! Great Roof Top pool but hours too short, Staff was very nice and accommodating.

Wanderlust, Thank you for the feedback. Thank you for the suggestion about the sofa bed. I would like to mention that we do have roll away beds for a nightly fee. Which can be placed in a room. Hope to see you again. Sincerely, Rebecca Roldan Guest Service Manager

The Roof Top Pool is the Prize

Pros: The Pool
Cons: Longer Pool Hours
Location: Close to Columbus Circle, River Front, Times Square
Had a very nice stay. Short Walk to Columbus Circle and Central Park but the real Plus is the Roof Top Pool. The site says there is also an inside pool and this is not correct. Pool Hours are short but worth the effort with great views, bar, and food service.

1980's Time Capsule, but falling apart.

By far one of the worst hotels I have ever visited. Don't bring your family with you if your kids have hopes of swimming in their rooftop pool. Max capacity is 68, which means no access once you check in. Checkout is at 11:00am despite their guest book and signs that state checkout is at 12 noon. Rooms are falling apart. Our bathroom door jammed / trapping our child inside.

Surprisingly disappointing

Pros: It was close to where we needed to be.
Cons: It needs to be updated and air-conditioned needs to be a must!
We had stayed at this hotel about 4 years ago and it was great. This time (4 years later) it was NOT great. The rooms were not thermostatically controlled, and the nights we stayed were very warm (unseasonally). When I called to report the fact that there was no moving air in the room, I was instructed that the air in the hotel was not turned on and they were sorry. They told us to open our windows (IN MANHATTAN) and they could give us a fan. When I told them we might have to move hotels, they told us since we booked through travelocity, it was basically too bad for us and that they could not refund our money so that we could change hotels. Also, the hotel is aged, not well updated and you need to leave the bathroom to change your mind. My knees nearly hit the closed door when I sat down on the toilet (and I am very short). We learned quickly to try and shower at what we would consider off times, because if you were showing and someone got into their shower in another room, or flushed another toilet, you got burned in your shower. All in all there are many many same-priced hotels in the NYC area that you can choose, stay away from this one.
