For the price we paid we were very happy with this hotel. It had New Orleans character without being right in the loud busy part of town. The trolley was the best unexpected extra. We did a self guided tour from the trolley and it was great. Breakfast was great and the staff very pleasant. The oyster bar right next door, Mr. Ed's was excellent as well as Emeril's right across the street.

Nightmare staff

The staff are belligerent unprofessional and too horrific for words —- do not stay at this hotel.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in..

If I could give this hotel no stars I would. The rooms are literally falling apart. When I layed down on the bed in the first room they put us in I immediately saw about 5 to 6 areas in the ceiling that were 2 to 3 feet in size of unpainted patch work and it only got worse from there. There is no towel rack in the bathroom, only two pancake sized areas of patch work on the wall where the towel rack used to be. The shower in this room is also VERY slippery. There was no mat & the shower floor has no grip. Also their showers are designed with only 1 glass shower door that only blocks half of the shower which allows almost everything in the room to get very wet. This is not a safe place to stay if you are elderly. It wasn't until dark that we noticed the window above the door with no curtain which allows light to constantly flood the room. This made it very hard to sleep. My boyfriend also noticed that because of the lack of curtain anyone on the upper level could see directly at our bed at certain angles. Once we realized this I knew we needed to move rooms. The "better" room also had all kinds of things wrong with it. At this point I realized I had made the mistake of not taking more photographs of the first room because this is obviously just their awful hotel standard. I've uploaded the photos I took of the second room & the 1 I took of the uncovered window in the first room.

The hotel that could've been great.

The front desk and valet staff were awesome, very helpful. The housecleaning staff were below acceptable. Rooms were not vacuumed, no fresh towels each day, and onee room not even cleaned one day. Frequent cabler and internet outages. Beds were not comfortable at all.

Good location, needs new cleaning staff

The sheets were supposed to be changed, but never were proven by the ambiguous red stain on my bed linens that remained for the duration. The towels were often stained with make up or blood, and there was hair in the bath and the sink. I normally don't leave negative reviews but I was deeply disappointed after reading so many good ones for this hotel. The staff was helpful when we encountered some travel issues but wouldn't guarantee us an extra night if the weather stranded us in New Orleans.

Horrible Housekeeping

Housekeeping was terrible. The night we checked in we found that the room had not been cleaned. Carpets were not vacuumed and the bed sheets and blankets had not been replaced. When we contacted the front desk we were told that the staff was gone for the day and that there were no clean blanket to give us. For 3 of the 6 days we had returned to no towels in the room. Front desk was helpful but I would not stay again.

not a good choice

After traveling all day, I make it to the hotel and there weren't a reservation for me. I offered the confirmation number and front desk employee said I wasn't in the system. It's almost 2am. I'm really tired and hungry. She tells me that her system will be shutting down in 20 minutes and it was up to me to contact Travelocity.

So close, yet so far away from greatness

I had misgivings about booking a Quality Inn; however, I needed to be as far uptown as possible. So the Maison St. Charles fit the bill. First the good: it's located across from a St. Charles Avenue Streetcar stop, free breakfast, free wifi, free access to the St. Charles Athletic Club, beautifully landscaped common areas, laundry room, and generally friendly, pleasant staff. The bad: Even though the rooms have been decorated in purple velvet, cherrywood, and gold leaf finishes, it's still essentially a dressed up motel with a popcorn ceiling. I could live with that. But what was especially irksome was the fact that I had no hot water in the shower for my entire three-night stay. I complained repeatedly but it was never fixed. Between being extraordinarily busy and short on time, as well as experiencing unusually hot weather, I put up with the lack of hot water; the cold showers were not entirely unpleasant. However, that being said, problems like this should not be simply ignored, and the hotel failed miserably at attending to my needs in that regard.
