Horrible for the price

Location: There was a marathon in Monterey so had to stay in Salinas which was out of the way in the first place and the price was so not worth it because it w
There was about a 2" gap under door that any animal could walk in and any human could look in. Very creepy. The tub was dripping and kept me up all night. The included breakfast was basically anything with high fruitcose corn syrup and not much else. Total rip off.

Internet was not working

I ended up asking for a refund after several calls to the front desk complaining about very slow internet speeds. It was a major hassle and I ended up at another hotel for the night. I really think hotels should be more proactive about maintaining their internet connection. It's not that hard to do. Also I would like to see some sort of statement about the speed of their internet in the hotel description. Just saying you have WiFi is not enough for me. That is like saying that you have a car but have no idea how fast it can go. 5 mph? 60 mph? Makes a big difference. In this case the front desk person had no idea about the expected speed of their connection. Their only trouble shooting was to try to reboot the router which did not help. Another analogy would be to have a pool but no idea if it has water.

Accommodating and Pleasant Staff

Pros: In addition to the friendliness of the staff, I enjoyed the raisin toast--it was large and fresh.
Location: Near downtown Salinas, a small and enjoyable town. The National Steinbeck Center is in Salinas, and fans will be greatly rewarded by a visit.
We had a very late arrival. We did notify the hotel, but we were aware that staff kept the lobby open much later than usual. Despite the inconvenience, they were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Their primary concern was the quality of stay for their guest--both ours and the other guests'. The room accommodations were nice and comfortable, though nothing special. This was a typical hotel stay, but made pleasant by smiling and generous staff (probably the franchise owners).

good value

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet
Far enough from highway 101 so there is minimal road noise but the walls are a little thin. The room it self was nice everything was clean and the furnishings and carpet looked on the newer side. The price was more than fair what it is.
