"Oustanding Boutique Hotel"
The Chatwal exceeded my expectations in all respects. The hotel itself lives up to its rating as a 5 star. Every member of the hotel staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated with state of the art amenities. The location is outstanding for those interested in attending Broadway shows with Times Square just a few blocks away. No complaints at all.

"Great hotel for the price. "
This hotel is fantastic for the price. Very clean and very convenient location. Yes, the rooms are small, and yes it has an outdated, old-fashioned look - but honestly, who cares? A great place to crash on a budget if you don't need all the bells and whistles of a fancy hotel and are good with just the basics, which was all my husband and I needed on this trip.

"big, clean, and comfy"
Could not believe how much room we got for the money (deal was under $200 for Saturday night). I expect midtown rooms to be cramped; our king room was huge. Service was great, as expected from a hotel of this caliber.

"Great hotel and lovely location."
We opted for this even though it was slightly more than some other of this quality because of the location. In the end the value was even better because we got the upgrade of having access to the executive club and internet access for free. The club breakfast buffet was excellent with great pastries, breads, lovely fresh fruits (apples, oranges, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pineapple, melons), smoked salmon with all the fixings, cold cuts, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, yogurt, juices, coffee....

"Hotel Mela, what a pleasant surprise!"
We were planning a weekend trip to New York City to see Les Miserables. We found this hotel in a prime location and at a surprisingly reasonable cost for this area. We took a chance on it and it proved to be so much more than we expected. The staff were all helpful and friendly. Rooms in New York are normally small which we expected for this price range but it was remarkably spacious. Everything in the room was modern and clean and included most all of the amenities you would expect like coffee pot, iron and board, hair dryer, refrigerator etc. The reason I did not give a 5 on comfort was because of the bed. Although it was a nice bed, it seemed to have some type of topper under the sheet on the mattress that would bunch up a little but nothing major. The have a lovely restaurant right next door where you can get an excellent breakfast for a reasonable price. The location was perfect. We were a little over block from Times Square and just a few blocks from the theater district. Also within walking distance was Rockefeller Center, Chrysler Building, Grand Central Station, St Patrick Cathedral and more. We would certainly recommend this hotel and will be sure to book again when going to the city!

"Nice hotel, but Needs Heat"
Accomodations fine, staff helpful but room would not get above 65 degrees. We were told it was 70 outside and if they turned on the heat for us everyone would want it on! Makes no sense to me, I guess just a cost cutting move.

"Ideal location / great value"
Great location, within 10 blocks of just about everything midtown, 1 block from Grand Central. The hotel was always quiet, the room and bed comfotable. Fridge and coffee maker in room ideal. Staff were all wonderful. Great value for the heart of Manhatten.

"Nice hotel. "Free internet" lacking."
They seem to pride themselves on "free" internet, but it was awful. An ad said we could upgrade for $4.95. Just charge me the extra $5 and don't tell me the Internet is free! Other than that the hotel was perfect.

"Great location and excellent customer service "
Hotel is in an excellent Midtown location. A bit older, but very clean and well maintained. We only had one snafu during our stay when the room didn't get cleaned. The manager was very apologetic and offered free breakfast the next morning for each of us. We were also accommodated with a late check out on our day of departure, which was helpful since our flight wasn't until the early evening. All in all, highly recommend and would stay here again.
