Good location, not so great room conditions
Posted Oct 12, 2017
We visited in October. The hotel is right on the beach, so the location is great- walking distance to many places such as restaurants and shops. However, the elevators seem old- they squeak and jolt. They also get bogged up at certain times of the day- at checkout time on a weekend? Forget it- you might as well take the stairs. The beds are not very comfortable- we found them hard and unpleasant. Oh, and although the showers are nice tile with glass doors- nice form, but the function is poor- the tile gets super slippery and the water pours all over the floor. And what is the point of having mirrors on the walls in the bathroom, if they are just going to fog up (no fans)?. The walls are super thin- we could hear the people in the next room and halls even when they were speaking in a regular speaking voice. We wanted to get the room service for breakfast to treat ourselves, but it was too ridiculously expensive- there are great places within a short walking distance. Also, watch out for the hidden fees- we had to pay $25 for valet parking ($20 if you want to self park)- but valet guys were quick. And, every day, we got a slip under the door from the concierge desk to get our welcome package- I stood behind someone else and realized it was just a sales pitch, so I left the line and didn't bother.
If you want to be right on the beach, this is a great place. Otherwise, I felt like I could have stayed a few streets over for far less or gotten a much nicer room for the same price.
