I was charged on my debit card for things not mentioned when I reserved the room online. The clerk did not speak good English and could not understand his explanation of why. I did not get the room I reserved.

Hampton Matthews 8-2017

Pros: Staff!
Cons: Breakfast upgrade for sure. Decor.
Location: Matthews seems to be a nice small town.
A little dated. Breakfast was so so. Bed comfortable. Air conditioning vent blows on you if you are at the desk. Shower tiles were not kept up. As a Hampton Inn, on the lower scale.

This hotel meets our needs.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
Located in a central location to our needs. Friendly staff, very clean for the most part. We've stayed there every year for several years now.

The staff was professional and friendly.

Cons: Noisy
Although the room was very clean, and staff was professional and friendly. I could here when the room above me used the water. I was staying in this hotel while a basketball team was there. When they dribbled the ball up and down the hall, I had no problem hearing them. Other than some of the noise it was a nice hotel.

This hotel felt dirty

Pros: Free Internet
Cons: Noisy
My room was far from pleasent. We asked for a first floor room next to the exit because we travel with our dog. Instead of getting a room next to the exit door for easy access for her to go to the bathroom, we got a room right across from a banquet room that had music blasting and people comming in and out and slamming the door. Our room was dirty. You could easily tell they dont take the time to properly clean the bathroom and the bed was not at all comfortable like you expect from a Hampton Inn. Let just put it this way, i skept in my clothes the first night. And the people at the front desk were pleasent but not helpful at all.
