If you like something other than a "big box" hotel/motel, the Tioga fits the bill

I had a business trip planned for the Iola area. When checking online, I found this hotel in Chanute, only 20 miles south of Iola. The more I looked at the Tioga, the more I thought, "oh, what the heck-let's take a chance". I did and I was pleased with my stay. My room was very small, but that didn't make a lot of difference since I only stayed in the room for sleeping. Their phone service is interesting-both local and long distance calls are free, something I've never seen before in a hotel. The wifi is okay, sporadic in places, but generally works about as well as free wifi anyplace you go these days. Their restuarant is good, simple fare, and there are some other places around the block to eat if you want some local cooking. I parked outside in front of the hotel. No issues there. All in all, not a bad place, and a pleasant experience.

It was fun

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet, bar and grill, movies, police station, on main street, long distance phone
I went to the hotel on business, with alot of work to do because i had alot of driving ahead of me. But to my surprise it turned into a leisure stay. I checked in, which was surprisingly easy and quick. I set my things in my room, so i can go grab something to eat. So i go to eat and the people were so friendly i ended up going to a couple bars and caught a movie, all within a couple blocks. We ended up at Benchwarmers, which was across the street at the end of the night and had an awesome time. I'll be back some time, either on company time or just to have fun and hang out. THANKS
