Rude staff, smoking everywhere

We were treated rudely from the moment we set foot in the lobby. The lobby incidentally reeked of smoke. I had made the reservation but my traveling partner was paying. We had chosen to pay at the hotel but when we informed the desk clerk of it he seem intent on making us pay cash. Three time he asked if we were paying cash, he begrudgingly accepted a credit card as payment. It felt very fishy. I had requested a non-smoking room and reiterated the request at check in. The room we got had a faint odor of smoke. In the morning when my friend went down to get coffee in the lobby he was treated very rudely by a different clerk. When he asked why he was treated so rudely she replied that homeless people sometimes can in and tried to get free coffee? I seriously doubt if I will ever stay in a Rodeway Inn again. Hopefully this is just a Lubbock phenomena. Ratings in that town seemed pretty dismal. The "featured" deal on Travelocity that day was a Red Roof Inn with a 2.1 rating. This Rodeway had a 2.9, I can't imagine what the 2.1 would have been like!

Convenient to shoppers

The area was in a lower part of town, with a robbery occuring at the grocery store on the corner of50th street an hour before we arrived. The staff was accommodating, but the free breakfast left a lot to be desired. The juices were watered down, and the potatoes were dry.

Worst ever!

Cons: Poor breakfast, extremely dirty
This was the absolute worst experience I have ever had in a hotel room. There was a leak in the bathroom coming from the room above us. It was not just a water leak if you get my meaning. The desk clerk offered us towels to clean it up..my son went to get me a cup of ice, their ice machine was broken and they had a neat solution...they had a regular cooler like you would take on a picnic and people just stuck they're hands and cups in the cooler(no scoop). The breakfast area was not too clean...it was a nightmare...I would prefer sleeping in my rental car..it would be a lot cleaner and the same level of comfort.
