Acceptable hotel, "C" condition.

Pros: It is geographically close to our destination.
Cons: This is an acceptable establishment most of the time but far from luxurious. It is old and desperately need of repairs and upgrades.
Location: Good location in the center of Santa Monica. Only good if you have access to a car. Not too much in walking distance.
I usually don't review these hotels as they are acceptable most of the time. Our experience was unacceptable this stay. This hotel decided to do upstairs remodeling at 8:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning, making it impossible to sleep in. The banging was very loud and lasted over an hour. It sounded as if they were taking out a bathtub or pipes, hammering on our ceiling without mercy. I noticed a sign up that the water was scheduled to shut off on the day we were leaving. I'm not certain if they were planning on scheduling rooms at this time or not, but it appears that some unlucky guests would book a stay with no water available for several hours that day. No discount was offered for our inconvenience.

Modern on the surface only

Pros: Central location, walkability to downtown, free parking, beds
Cons: Insulation between the rooms, upgrade the elevator, fix the AC units
Location: There is an IHOP in the basement of the building. There are a lot of homeless people everywhere, so it's not as walking-friendly as I thought.
I stayed here for a few nights for a business trip. I liked that the hotel had free parking. The location was good for us since we were driving around for client visits in other areas. We were able to walk to the beach area for dinner relatively easily, though there are a lot of homeless people/vagrants along the walk so we didn't feel entirely safe. The hotel appears to have been updated relatively recently. The bed was comfortable and the room was mostly clean. Unfortunately, the wooden floors now allow you to hear the person/people stomping around upstairs). There is zero sound insulation between rooms. I could hear text messages from the phone of the person in the next room over. I could hear screaming children outside our room. Constant noise. The air conditioning unit was incredibly loud--it made a screeching sound. I had to keep turning it on and off until the fan wasn't screeching, though it was still very loud. I could barely hear the TV over the air conditioning noise, and didn't want to turn the TV up any louder in order to avoid disturbing other patrons. The elevators are incredibly slow. I also hated that you can't simply have the bathroom door open--the bathroom door is heavy and will remain closed unless you prop it open.

Nice location.

Pros: Location
Cons: More detail to cleaning.
Location: Not far from beaches, walk of fame, restaurants, UCLA, etc.
The hotel was in a nice location with plenty of restaurants nearby and their own parking garage. Front desk staff was friendly and efficient. My only complaint was that my room was dusty. Dust could be seen in corners and caked in the crevices of the radio. Floors were not swept properly because sand from the beach remained the next day. But the rest of the room (bedding, bathroom, towels) were fine. I would stay there again for the location and convenience.

Great hotel

Pros: Travelocity.com
Cons: Room space
Location: Bistro italian restaurant. Broadway, etc streets for outside shopping/walking.
Very clean and modern hotel in a convenient area. We walked to a great italian restaurant called Bistro Santa Monica. I highly recommend it. Room was very clean, but small. We had single king bed with a sliding door that went out to a shared patio. The patio was a bonus and always nice to have the option for fresh air. Bed took up the whole room though so it was difficult to walk around. Bathroom clean. On site parking included & good, free wifi. Would stay here again.

Gem just outside tourist area

This is a great little hotel just off the tourist trap of Santa Monica. The hotel provides shuttles if you want to go to the pier, and all the staff are very friendly. The beds are comfortable, but if you're a light sleeper request the top floor! Flooring is not carpet so you can hear upstairs easily. Otherwise, that's the only if-y thing about this hotel.

Conveniently Situated on Santa Monica Boulevard

Pros: Free Internet
It is always a balance when choosing a hotel between price and the value you get for that price. As far as I'm concerned this hotel ticked all the boxes for me, for price, convenience and quality. The Hotel was clean comfortable and well equipped with most important these days free access to high speed wifi and 15 minutes free access to a printer to print off boarding cards. Free parking was also a bonus. Situated on Santa Monica Boulevard (part of the historic Route 66), meant access to most of the tourist things was relativeley easy as was access to and from the airport. The Ocean, downtown Santa Monica with the 3rd Street Promenade offering a wide variety of shops and restaurants and up to 1.5 hours free parking was just a few minutes away by car.

Clean room, but too expensive

Pros: Free Internet
Cons: Nothing close, no breakfast for the price
The room was clean but at a rate of $200+ a night I expected it to be nicer and closer to the Boardwalk. It is not in walking distance to shopping or restaurants. I probably wouldn't stay here again, if I am in the area. I would pay an extra $50 or more to be close to everything.

Very good and friendly staff

I arrived at the hotel late at night, only to discover that my reservation on line did not go through. The hotel was full and I had a lot of lugagge. Mr. Julio and a very nice lady that was at the front desk, help me to get a room in another hotel, help me with the luggage and call me a taxi, all without me even asking them to help me! I truly recomend this hotel for the kind of good heart people that work there. Thank you so much guys! Beth.
