Beware construction!

Pros: Location.
Cons: Notify customers that construction noise will have a big impact on their stay.
This hotel is in a great location. It is a block from the tube station and it's close to restaurants and shops. The room is small but adequate. HOWEVER, when we visited two weeks ago, the hotel was undergoing construction. This made a relaxing vacation virtually impossible. For example, if you are experiencing jetlag and would like to take a nap, you will be unable to do so due to construction noise at such a level, that it sounds like the roof may collapse on your head at any moment. Also, if you would like to sleep past 8 AM (which is a crazy idea on vacation I know) it will also be impossible, due to the same noise level. Long story short, call to find out if construction is still ongoing before booking. Also, the house keeping staff will take short cuts like leaving dirty dishes and arranging them as they do when they are clean.... perhaps thinking you won't notice the tea remnants still in the bottom of the mug?

Excellent Hotel in South Kensington

Pros: Everything.
Cons: The beds and pillows were not as soft as I would like.
Location: The Hotel is only a short walk away from Kensington High Street, so there is not shortage of shopping and restaurants. Also close to museums
This hotel was fabulous for our London vacation. The entire staff was friendly and knowledgable, and the entire hotel was very clean. The room, standard twin, was small by American standards, but enough space for two people and lots of luggage. Everything was recently renovated and in good condition. The food in the restaurant was delicious, as well as in the bar/lounge and in the Musetti coffee bar. There is a taxi stand across the street from the hotel, and a tube station a short walk away. very convenient for getting around London. Overall I am very pleased with the hotel and staff, and will stay here again the next time I visit London.

Hotel was very clean and close to many things with

Pros: This hotel is lovely and offers a restaurant for breakfast and dinner as well as a lounge/bar area that serves food all day. It also has a small cafe
Cons: Would have liked a more comfortable bed. A nice pillow topper or something would have helped.
Location: The hotel is slightly off the main street but easy walking distance to most things in the Kensington area. Short walk to Kensington Palace. We found
We stayed at this hotel for a week and a half and enjoyed it very much. London is a great city and we found this hotel to be located well. Many restaurants and some shopping are within walking distance. Cabs are easily accessible for longer trips. The rooms are small by American standards but are pleasant and clean. We ate at the hotel a few times and the food was pretty good. The staff were very helpful and we appreciated the concierge and front desk help. This hotel is about a 35-45 minute cab ride from Heathrow Airport.

Was a nice Hotel

Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Room size
Location: Great location...convenient and off the main boulevard so not too busy on the street outside.
The Kensington Close was a nice Hotel. I've stayed in "nicer Hotels" but for the price the hotel was a good deal. The staff was friendly and very helpful. It is conveniently located a block from the High Street Underground and major bus routes Really the only complaint I would have was the room was small. Not sure if this is typical of London as I don't travel there often. The room was well kept but a bit on the small side. Otherwise it was a very pleasant stay there.

Marvellous hotel, great price for London

Pros: Good price and great location near Royal Albert hotel.
Location: Close to Royal Albert Hall.
Considering the reasonable price (for London), this hotel far exceeded my expectations. It is excellent all around. Close to the underground and in walking distance of Hyde Park and the Royal Albert Hall. Perfect!

London in June

Pros: Location and staff.
Location: Kesington gardens, resturants and shops.
For 5 days my daughter and I took a vacation, for the first time to London GB. We had a short time to see most of the sights and we also wanted to see shows on the London stage. We also had time to visit friends. I chose this hotel because of its location to Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. It was perfect. We walked a short distance to the gardens most days. The hotel was everything I expected and more. The room was clean, the food was very good and the staff was always at their best. They were helpful for everything from making us feel important to helping get around town.

Good cost/benefit

Excellent location, hotel staff very kind and efficient. The only low point on is that room was not ready although we arrived one hour after regular check in time.

Good hotel in a great location

The Kensington Close Is a good hotel in a great location. The neighborhood combines great shopping with excellent access via the "tube" to the city center. The hotel is clean, has excellent services and staff and has excellent public areas. As with most London hotels the rooms are very small, especially for American tastes.

not the best

You should assume that the rooms are small....thats just the way european rooms are. They were clean and the window had a good view of the streets. Its close to the tube and some good restaraunts which youll need because the hotels food stinks. The staff is rude and by rude I mean not helpful and unaccomodating. I expect to get the American hating attitude by some outside of the hotel but not in...

Kensington Close Hotel Review

The staff in general are rude. The only person who was a pro was the conceirge. No one else smiled or seemed to care about service. I only ate one meal there - a continental breakfast that was over priced for what was offered.
