Old, unsafe house
The six of us stayed at this property in August 2022. The house is old and showed for the years of being a rental - pretty run-down spaces, a mishmash of furniture and linens, etc. Electrical sockets could be hard to find, especially in the upstairs. However, some fundamentals made this an unsafe place to stay:
- Signs everywhere in the house warned that the hot water tap produces scalding water. I was careful but had burning water run over my hands multiple times during the week. This is a huge risk to ordinary people, but I honestly cannot imagine children staying here. This property should not be rented further until this issue is corrected.
- A bedroom door was literally falling off the hinges when we arrived. The property manager got a handyman over there quickly. While the door was reattached, it would not close properly. We were told that they did not want to spend more money on the handyman's time at that point, even if the result was that the people in that room could not have privacy with a closed door.
In addition, windows in one of the bedrooms facing the the street did not have treatments to block the sun, resulting in some very early mornings for the person who stayed there. Also, many of the windows around the house simply couldn't be opened.
Other renters should be advised that a hospital with a helipad is a block away.
We were disappointed in our stay here and will not return.
