Walking distance to the entire small town, including tubing rentals and the public hot springs. No private outdoor areas such as a covered porch or balcony outside room. Generous with extras like towels and ice, but staff must retrieve both for you. A good place if you're just looking for a place to sleep; the furniture is old, tubs are pretty bad looking. The office is sometimes open with coffee in the morning, but sometimes not. It depends upon staffing. Great hiking path behind the facility next to the RV area, but there are "KEEP OUT" and No Trespassing signs, so not sure if guests are really welcome or who actually owns the trail. Would be good to find out before walking, but the trail is great because it leads to a rope down to a couple free hot springs.

The 1st room was ok until we tried the jetted tub, which didn't work. We were undressed and filling the tub but the jets didn't work. I called the desk clerk and got dressed and she came and tried to get it to work, but it didn't so we had to change rooms, but tried the jetted tub there and it worked. The next morning I tried 3 times to get in the office for coffee but it was locked and not available, so we skipped morning coffee. The room was clean and suitable.

The only thing going for this property is its location across from the hot springs. It is quite run down and sadly in need of an update.

My stay at Lava was great, booking through Travelocity was the worst it said it slept three people on their website it was one queen size bed I ended up sleeping on the floor because there was no other rooms available.
