"My favorite hotel on the Big Island."
Over the years we have stayed at several different places on the Big Island; this is our second stay at the Mauna Lani. I cant imagine staying anywhere else. The hotel is beautifully designed and landscaped with both salt and freshwater ponds. The beach is clean and easy to access. You can snorkel right off the beach. I hate it when hotels add the extra $25 resort fee, but we did get beach cabanas, lots of towels, snorkel equipment, parking, internet and pool equipment and more all for that price. The staff is outstanding. Many are long term employees, which I think speaks well for the hotel. If i have a complaint it is about the food. Dinner options were more limited than I like and the restaurants in the hotel close at 8:30 PM (maybe this is different in High season, ?). The breakfast buffet has a good selection of food though I thought overpriced. I was disappointed in their upscale restaurant, Canoe House. There are lots of other restaurant choices however in the area. We were upgraded to an ocean front room. It was heaven; we left the patio door open at night and feel asleep to the sound of the ocean waves.

"Nice hotel with all or most rooms facing the beach"
Overall, I recommend this hotel though the rooms could use some updating. For the price, it's well worth it. The gym is adequate given the limited number of individuals who used it durning my stay.

"Fabulous facility, awful food."
The hotel and grounds were beautiful and well keep, the staff helpful, pleasant and efficient. However, the food was awful and very expensive. I do not mind paying a high price for food, but the food in every restaurant at the Fairmount Orchard was between bad and awful. Hardly edible.

"Condo in great location for a reasonable price"
Started out real bad. I made the booking and my 80-year old mother and friend arrived and were denied access because I was not present. Same last name, same address, same credit card. Had to call Travelocity to change name and confirm with hotel. Very unpleasant. Then they felt bad got extra spacious rooms and whatever perks possible. Outside of that great service, great stay for two weeks. Lots of trips from that central location. Close to Waikoloa reposts and shops such as Queen's shops and King's shops. Traffic near non existent, compared to the incredibly busy Kona area. Costco close enough with their gas station and warehouse. Good restaurants in the vicinity, excellent Luau in Waikoloa hotels. Easy to reach Waimea, Honokaa with the Waipio Valley, easy to Hilo and Volcanic Park via the fast road, avoiding Kona traffic. A 10 minute walk to KTA store, also restaurants and a gas station right there. Fantastic views of sunsets and sunrises. Comical turkey flocks roam around, as well as the protected Nenes on the golf course. I like cooking and baking and everything is in the condos. Air conditioning is included in some packages not in others, make sure you know. I have stayed there before and was impressed. One thing needing attention is the Wifi which is intermittent and slow.

"Just loved it!"
We were there last week, had a 1-bedroom condo with full kitchen, laundry facilities, lovely outside sitting area. Can't say enough about this place. We stayed there 2 years ago and found it excellent value and so very comfortable. Why would anyone want to stay in a hotel when something like this is available. Plenty of easy-access parking, lovely views in every direction (we face the petroglyph field and golf course. Quiet, clean, comfortable furniture, spacious. We will return to the big island and will definitely stay there again.

"Nice hotel- but under construction with no warning"
We have stayed at this hotel 3 times and loved it until the most recent stay when the hotel began renovations without any notification or warnings. Getting woken up by tiles being drilled off of the bathroom in the units on the floors above is not what I would expect from a Marriott. We were not given any warning or notification of the construction until it woke us up. The staff was apologetic and compensated us in various ways, but I still feel that we were mislead and inconvenienced by the construction. I highly suggest that you stay elsewhere until they are finished with renovations (if we had known, we would have booked on a different property). Supposedly the hotel is shutting down in November some time to complete the renovations (probably because so many people complained about the noise) and reopening after January 1st when most of the remodel is complete. It will surely be beautiful when it's finished... But I wouldn't book here until the work is COMPLETELY FINISHED.

"Stay at Aston Waikoloa Colony Villas"
Our overall experience was very pleasant after a few initial hiccups. We had flown for 11 hrs from Dulles, Virginia, to Atlanta, LA, then Hawaii with 2 children. We arrived at 11:30 pm, picked up our rental car and drove to the hotel. When we got to the hotel it was after hrs and the security gates were shut and needed a code to enter. The flight/ hotel itinerary had the after hrs numbers to call for access albeit it was printed below the address of the hotel were we would be staying. The hotel reception and the hotel accommodation were not on the same property We had not anticipated this or to put it another way, most hotels we have stayed in have their reception and rooms on the same building. We finally called the number on the itinerary, and a very helpful man, gave us the entry code to the reception mailbox, where we were giving further instructions of were the keys to the room were. and all the welcome package. It was now after 12 midnight, tired, exhausted, but happy to start our vacation. Our suite was clean and well air-conditioned. caution. The roads at night are not fully illuminated. However, enjoyed the island, people, and scenery.

Kohala Coast - Waikoloa Hotel Guide

For many, the idea of getting away to a tropical paradise like Hawaii is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Hawaii offers a number of gorgeous and relaxing places to visit, and one of the best places to stay is Waikoloa.

    Things to Do in Waikoloa

Waikoloa is located on the northwest shore of the big island in Hawaii, along one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the world. Hotels in Waikoloa provide guests access to black and white sand beaches, a tropical climate, relaxation, and adventure, which can be found within a short distance of virtually all Waikoloa hotels. If the water is where you want to be, vacations in Waikoloa offer easy access to the beach, boat tours, snorkeling, or diving. Waikoloa Beach is a well-known destination in its own right, and the Ku?uali?i and Kahapapa Fishponds, first built and maintained by ancient Hawaiian natives, are located just behind the beach in Anaeho?omalu bay. The bay also features the opportunity for snorkeling, windsurfing, and relaxing on the beach, which is also considered to be a pristine stretch of shoreline. Nearby are ancient Hawaiian petroglyphs and carvings, tying the entire area to its ancient roots and providing visitors with a fascinating view into Hawaii's past. Also nearby is an excellent opportunity to get close to nature at Dolphin Quest, where guests can actually swim with dolphins in protected lagoons. Waikoloa also boasts a number of outdoor activities like hiking and golfing. And if a more leisurely pace is what you're looking for, the resorts and shopping at Waikoloa are world-class.

    Explore Waikoloa

Travelocity lets you search over 400 airlines and more than 510,000 hotels worldwide, which includes Kailua-Kona flights, and find cheap hotels in Waikoloa. In fact, with our price guarantee, we will match any lower price and refund you the difference.
