Pleasant condo hotel - conditions may vary

Location: Favorite activities: whale watching tour, macadamia nut farm visit, hiking tour of Halawa valley, hiking down to Kalaupapa peninsula
Overall, we were quite pleased with our stay here. The little beach area is quiet and peaceful, the gardens are well-kept (with resident chicken families to watch), and it is convenient to town. Guests should bear in mind, however, that the condo apartments are privately owned, so the amenities and condition of the apartments can vary. For instance, there was some miscommunication within the rental agency. We arrived in the evening, which meant we accessed the apartment using a keycode on the door. The apartment we stayed in that evening was mostly OK, but we had trouble with the door locks, some of the instructions left by the owner didn't make sense, there was no WIFI, and the kitchen light strobed unpleasantly. After going to the agency to ask about the locks, we were told that they actually meant to put us in a different apartment (#203) anyway. So we moved, and the other apartment was MUCH nicer. The owners had put together a nice folder of information about the island, the furniture was comfortable, the WIFI worked, and the kitchen had nearly all the equipment one could wish for. Neither apartment had air conditioning, but in December that wasn't needed anyway - we just ran the fans and opened the window if it got a bit hot.

Nice condo development right on the ocean. My only complaint was that there was no air conditioning. This fact was not clear from the room description.

STINK! BUGS!

full kitchen yes! But the utensils and cookware very used and abused. I was raised on molokai and lived a very simple life, but for the cost of the room and my expectations never even met half way. It felt like I was camping in a hotel room. Stained bath towels. And musty smell. I would rather smell the smokey hotel rooms in Fremont hotel...

This condominium was very flexible and accomodating.

Pros: Quiet
Cons: No free Internet
I have stayed at Molokai Shores many times prior to this last visit, but the unit we were assigned was excellent. It had laminate flooring and the owners had furnished the room based on a tropical fish theme. A flat panel monitor, full size gas range, and refrigerator was some of the other items that were available.

Accommodation okay, view terrific

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet, Quiet
I stayed here one night, having booked it sight unseen. This is a combination hotel/vacation rental site and as such was perfectly fine. The third-floor loft unit in which I stayed was spacious and clean, though a bit the worse for wear--a few things were chipped or broken off and I couldn't get some of the lights to work. The best part of this property is the exterior: the grounds are beautifully kept and the beach view is amazing--there are the remnants of a historic fishpond in sight and the sunset was a breathtaking experience. As part of a package deal the price was reasonable. Be warned that there was no air-conditioning and the unit got quite warm on a sunny day, even with the ceiling fans going.

The grounds were beautiful.

Pros: Free Internet
There wasn't a lot of options on Moloka'i. We chose Moloka'i Shores because it was the closest to our event/activities. The grounds and scenery were beautiful, but I felt that the room itself was run down, and could have been cleaner. It was fine for our purposes because we were out most of the time.
