Cloud Forest

Pros: friendly staff
Cons: better representation online. I would rate this a 2 or 3 star
Location: was surprised to find it in the heart of town, was expecting something a little more remote. Was able to get some good walking in and near shops.
This was our only disappointment for the trip. This hotel was not what I was expecting. The rooms were very small and average. In the heart of town which was a surprise. No chairs in the room so if you wanted to hang out in the room, you either stood on the balcony or sat on the bed. Cost was even more per night than the other higher quality/location etc! Motel 6ish.

Hotel Poco a Poco is definitely a great lodging option for travelers looking to get the most of their time spent in Monteverde, we are strategically located, just 4 blocks away from down town Santa Elena, the center of town offers lots of colorful attractions: cafés, restaurants, gift shops, minimarkets, ice cream parlors, live music shows and much more. Our guests enjoy our restaurant very much: great food, local recipes, Costa Rican cuisine, live music regularly, or they can just go across the street and find stores, supermarket and various choices of food. After a nice day of activities, Hotel Poco a Poco offers a very nice heated, covered pool, a hot tub, spa for massages, wraps and exfoliations, a very nice way to recover and cleanse your senses. Our garden, open areas and rest spaces offer good opportunities to enjoy a sunset, to see the clouds and mist rise up the hills or enjoy a cool afternoon downpour. Our facilities are modern and comfortable, even though our rooms are small, they are very well equipped, Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, king size beds are available and we have a special category of garden rooms, one for couples and one for families, they feature air conditioning ( we have the first four rooms with A/C in Monteverde ) mini fridges and are very spacious and well displayed. We always get compliments about our service, Front desk personnel, our waiters and everybody involved in guest service is outgoing, helpful and willing to provi

Comfortable and convienant!

After a couple nights sleeping on what seems to be the Costa Rican normal ( we are spoiled in America ) uncomfortable hArds beds we decided to pay more for our room in monteverde. The beds were in deed more comfortable but probably still not the expectations of people from the states. The room was on the back side of town so it was quiet but super convienant to town only about 5 minute walk. The only downfall is no a/c and no screens so you do get some bugs. Great little breakfast included. Was the perfect place after a loud noisy uncomfortable stay in fortuna.

Not an impressive hotel, but good service.

Pros: The service was wonderful!! We had 3 or 4 different reception people helping us during the day and all were very helpful.
Cons: Just rip down room #45. :)
Location: Walk to coffee shop and grocery store! $6 cab ride to get you to awesome restaurants and bars.
The service that we got here was great! The reception people were beyond helpful in getting us excursions booked ASAP. We arrived there at 1pm and so many of Monteverde's activities are early afternoon. Within minutes, we had our priority excursions booked. (suspension bridges, tram and night coffee tour). However, Monteverde is very windy. An average day will bring you a consistent 35mph wind. This hotel has no escape when it comes to wind. We stayed in room #45 which is seriously the WORST room for wind. If you are staying here, I'd recommend a ground room near the restaurant.

I´m sorry it was windy and to be honest, you are right, room number 45 is the one most exposed to the wind. I´m very sorry. It does get very windy and we are going to perform some important changes in our building in order to isolate the wind. Thank you.
