bad attitude

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet
Cons: Nothing close, Noisy
incident that occurred at your facility yesterday morning, 04/10/12, regarding myself and my service dog, Recon. I am a retired serviceman after being injured during one of my two tours of duty in Iraq. Even though I have had surgeries, my disabilities are not visible to the naked eye. As you may know, service dogs are something that are only issued after going through a rigorous and thorough application process and when in public are always wearing their vest, are highly trained and well-behaved animals. The incident occurred as follows: I was in NJ, from out of state, specifically for the VA in East Orange, NJ. I checked in Sunday evening and had a pleasant stay at your beautiful facility, until yesterday morning. I had checked out early, as I was due at the VA early, for lab testing. All I wanted was to get some breakfast to go, to eat after the lab testing. As soon as I entered the dining area, an older woman (employee) approached and informed me no dogs were allowed in the dining area. I informed her, (Recon had on his bright red vest-easily visible), that this is a service dog and he is allowed in here. She walked away, into the kitchen, rolling her eyes, shaking her head, and muttering to herself. Almost immediately, a very large man, (employee), wielding a very large kitchen knife emerged from the kitchen, walking directly at me in a threatening manner, and also stating that dogs were not allowed in the dining area or around the food. I also informed him that this is a service dog, and yes, he is allowed here. I also asked him why he came toward me with a large kitchen knife; he did not answer that question. He proceeded to argue with me regarding this, so I walked away, back up stairs to the main lobby as he continued to yell at me in a very disrespectful manner.
