Room not ready upon arrival had to wait until after4:PM To get our keys to the room.Courtyard view was promised per reservation and received a room with a view of the side of a building and a mechanical well, very disapointed. Called front desk to express my concerns and they really didnt care, they said someone would get back to us and no one ever did, Im sure its because we booked a third party. They really made us feel like 2nd class citizens. now i know what it feels like to be disremenated against, i would seriously consider dropping this hotel from your business partner list and i will have to reconsider using travelocity again if you continue to do business with corporations such as the Balboa Bay Resort. They put up a good smokescreen but thier customer service relations earn a"F"

Our courtyard rooms do vary in views, with some overlooking the pool and some overlooking other interior areas of the Resort. Overpriced. Over everything.

Pros: The room was clean.
Cons: Complete overhaul including personnel. No energy or enthusiasm reflected by the employees.
At $500/nt, you could understand that a room overlooking the parking lot is a bit underwhelming. Next, a huge RV parked right in front of our window. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. The food is awful. Shrimp was mushy, caesar salad was oily and did not taste at all like a Caesar salad, and it was obviously pre-mixed. Romaine, I think it was anyway, was anemic, limp and bland. Very noisy road kept us from sleeping well. So happy we only booked one night as we would have needed to move to another hotel. I'm sure even Motel 6 would have been better. What a disappointing place this is. Resort? The Balboa Bay Resort has obviously seen its day. At check in, the front desk clerk whispered in a very noisy lobby and then seemed inconvenienced to repeat her words. And the employees know nothing about the hotel: when was it built? "Ugh, I don't know." We searched for the concierge three times and the desk was empty each time.
