Great cozy beach vacation unit
Stayed for a week here as a solo parent with my two young children, aged 8 and 10, and the unit really was ideal for this price range. The listing depicts the unit accurately: it is a cozy, basic,1 BR unit that would suit a couple or up to a family of four with young kids. I felt the unit was clean and well-maintained. As depicted in the listing, you have your basic household amenities for a party of four, and admit it, cleaning your own dishes is probably worth the very reasonable rental rate. There's enough of a view of the ocean from the balcony to kick back and enjoy it. As other reviewers have written, the location is fantastic. It's a 4-minute walk from the unit door to the beach via the property's access walkway across the protected dune area. The beach at this location is lovely and massive at low tide, which the kids loved, and still roomy enough when it's in, with firm sand. I didn't personally care for what's obviously a popular local activity, beach biking, but if that's your thing you'll be happy; and people were pretty conscientious about looking out for others. The Coligny Plaza shopping center was just a10-minute walk, with more to do than you'll have time for if you're on the beach every day, a local grocery chain, and several good places to eat. There was even a ceramic-painting cafe in there which the kids loved on our one rainy day. If you want to cook out, there are plenty of charcoal grills available in the center of the property. The location of the property is actually ideal to reach activities on the island, like mini-golf or local tours, all within a 15-20 minute drive. We even hopped the island trolley bus and found that enjoyable, all the schedule info is available online--but remember, you have to tell the driver what stop you want when you get on! Lastly, the unit owner, Ms. Kline, was readily available and responsive by text and email, and very helpful, including with various recommendations for eats. We'd definitely recommend the unit for a great Hilton Head beach vacation for a party/family of four or smaller in this price range.
