Despite arriving late we were welcomed by a nice young man who helped us park and took our bags inside. Entering we found a beautifully restored and decorated house that is clean, comfortable, warm and inviting. The queen bed in the Victorian was especially comfortable. Michael, the owner, is awesome! Will definitely come back when visiting the area.

A short but excellent stay. No one will do whatever is needed to make your stay enjoyable than this place. Definitely recommended.

As a historian, I loved the unique, charming features of this 18th century property. We stayed in the king room on the first floor which was large and lovely, the bed very comfortable. But I'd encourage you to book the suite on the 2nd floor if you can--Michael, our host, gave us a tour and it was fabulous--especially the large bathroom. I also loved the small cozy library on the property. Michael was an exceptionally friendly and helpful host. The B&B is in a great location to tour the area and Michael gave us great recommendations. Downtown Morganton is about 10 mins away, with quaint restaurants and a good coffee shop. Gorgeous Lake James is right there if you want to run/hike/bike. Blowing Rock and Asheville are easy day trips from the property, and two wineries are nearby too. In sum, Bridgewater was a quiet, relaxing place to stay in the country but near everything we wanted to see. Loved it and will be back- Thanks Michael!
