Great location.

Posted Jul 8, 2017
The location of this hotel is perfect. It connects to a lagoon and ocean and dock for boating. You can walk to shopping and restaurants and it's relatively close to hotel. Staff is great. The downsides are the musty smell in rooms but we heard that is just a Hawaii issue in summer and even pricy uppity hotels have this issue. There are no fitted sheets on the bed -just a regular sheet thrown over the mattress and so the mattress shows. The rooms aren't really cleaned during your stay - just replace towels and make beds and maybe some light cleaning here and there. Restaurants in hotel are great. Lots of extras like fitness center, spa, ABC store, pool and an amazing luau on site complete with water skit! I would recommend staying here and brining some type of spray for the humidity-hotel smell.

It was clean, with a great view of the pier, pool

Posted Apr 23, 2017
Pros: Everything. It was the nicest hotel to stay at with so many conveniences.
Cons: It would be nice to have a microwave in the room as there is already a frig. there.
Location: The hotel is walking distance to the pier where there are many water sports to sign up for in the hotel itself. We went on a submarine and saw reefs.
The front desk clerk, Mae was professional, kind and efficient. She gave us a beautiful room and a box of candy for our 42nd anniversary. The staff at the HONO restaurant were very pleasant, especially, Helen, who served us and told us to eat at table 92 which had a great view of the sunrise each day. We had the breakfast buffet included which was terrific. The housekeeping staff were accommodating. Every staff member greeted us with Alohas each time we passed any of them. The pool area was clean and comfortable. We had such a relaxing and enjoyable time at the hotel. I would go back there in a flash and would highly recommend it to any one as the location to the main road is so convenient.

Nice Hotel, not beach front as they advertise

Posted Apr 17, 2017
The room was nice. We headed to what they call beach access. The sand part is smaller than a football field and is open to public. Water access is a little cove that is man made.

Aloha Michele, Thank you for your feedback about your recent stay at our hotel. We are a beach front hotel as you can walk out straight from to hotel and onto the sandy beach. The bay is not man made, but rather a natural feature of the area. It is open to the public for everyone's enjoyment, as it was intended. The grassy lawn area and lounge/sunning area on the beach does belong to the hotel. One of the nice features of our hotel is that fact that one can swim and snorkel in lovely Kamakahonu Bay, then finish off their water experience in our beach side pool. Pretty cool, huh? Mahalo for your comments.

Nice Hotel right on the beach!

Posted Mar 3, 2017
Room was a little dated, but still nice. Thought we were getting queen beds. Turned out they were two double beds. Overall it was a great experience. It cost 17.50 a night to park a hotel.

I had the MOST AMAZING Vacation Ever, THIS Hotel was in the BEST PLACE I have ever been...It is in a cove with a BIG Fishing Dock on the BIG ISLAND with incredible views overlooking the Beach front and the dock. Everything was GREAT at this hotel from the service up front to the concierge booking us to be picked up to Fly in a Helicopter to see the waterfalls and the volcanos and red hot lava and fly down the coast and we got picked up from the submarine at the dock in front of Marriott's hotel and took the Dinner cruise to Captain Cook's monument. All the restaurants were the BEST near the hotel, EVERYBODY was so helpful and friendly, We could Feel the LOVE and HIGHLY RECCOMEND TO ANYONE ALOHA

Terrible management

Posted Dec 13, 2016
I got sick in the middle of my stay- fever, cough- confined to my bed for 3 days. I asked for help getting cough syrup and 2 oranges. The bellman tried to assist me but the manager wouldn't allow it. She said she would give me some cough drops but sent him back without any. The restaurant would not answer the phone to accept an order for 2 oranges. If I had a sick guest, I would have offered making a doctor's appointment, delivered chicken noodle soup besides the oranges and cough syrup.

Kona Vaca

Posted Jan 7, 2016
Pros: Staff, location clean
Cons: Warnings of possible incidents while swimming at the facility beach
Location: Great restaurants. Shops
Good hotel. Staff and hotel condition very good; great location in Kona. The only problem I have was at the little beach the facility has. There is not warning of possible accident stepping on a sea urchin while sweamming at the facility beach. I stepped on one, leaving six punctures on my right foot. It was very painful experience, and almost ruined my vacation. The hotel should have recommendations of wearing shoes while swimming. They have a variety of water sports on shallow water. Thankfully, I decided not to go to the ER and suck up the pain with vinegar and !!urine!! Recommended by some locals. Still have the spines inside my skin, and waiting for them to come out.

Thank you for sharing comments about the recent stay at our hotel. I am sorry to read that you received an injury to your foot from a sea urchin. Normally, there aren't many in the area. As a precaution, many visitors will wear protective footwear when walking on the rocks or in the water, especially in unfamiliar areas. I'm sorry you had to have that experience. I hope the situation has gotten better for you.

The center of nearly everything in Kailua- Kona.

Posted Oct 3, 2015
Pros: It was close to restaurants and activities and had many different services within the hotel.
Cons: Some of the fit and finish is starting to show its age. Painting would solve much of this.
Location: The hotel is right next to Kailua pier, which is the center of most activities happening in Kona.
Our experience at Marriott King Kamehameha was excellent. The hotel is right in the heart of Kialua-Kona and offers a great number of activities within walking distance. The hotel is very clean and nice, but is showing its age and could use some updating. The room was clean and comfortable, but I would recommend reserving a room away from the street. Our room was on the 5th floor and we had trouble sleeping most nights due to lively conversations and activities on the street below. The staff was friendly and eager to help. I would definitely stay again. However, I would make sure to get a different room.

Great location

Posted Sep 28, 2015
Room was good size, close to shopping and restaurants. Very clean, including the grounds. Ample parking. Would have been nice to have had a microwave in the room; you do have the option to rent one. Nice little beach right out front.
