Mahalo for appreciating this local neighborhood and the teachers cottage where you stayed. It is definitely old Hawai'i in a real Hawaiian neighborhood.

The Pahala Plantation Cottages is an Adorable and very quaint place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the old Hawaii feel and the spaciousness our cottage provided. It's a unique place with special energy and good vibes. Much Aloha🌺

Beautiful historic home on a quiet street in a small town. Not much around but a great retreat if you're prepared.

First night in one cottage - electricity went off for 2 hours. Owner showed up with a candle after 1 1/2 hours. Same night, roosters crowed the entire night. I was told that just how it is. No attempt at fixing problem. Moved me to another cottage some frog perched outside bedroom windows and "screamed" the entire night. Again told that was common in Hawaii, no attempt to remedy the situation. Had to sleep with earplugs in the living room. 3rd place, the fire alarm went off sporadically during the night. Not beeps, but alarm went OFF. Told to change the battery. I was to find a ladder and a battery at 1 in the morning. Listen, these people shouldn't be renting out rooms. Each place had simple problems like a toilet out of order, leaky faucet, no hot water. They had no clue and didn't care. To boot, I caught them feeding the chickens. No wonder they had rooster problems.
