Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel

"The center of nearly everything in Kailua- Kona."
Our experience at Marriott King Kamehameha was excellent. The hotel is right in the heart of Kialua-Kona and offers a great number of activities within walking distance. The hotel is very clean and nice, but is showing its age and could use some updating. The room was clean and comfortable, but I would recommend reserving a room away from the street. Our room was on the 5th floor and we had trouble sleeping most nights due to lively conversations and activities on the street below. The staff was friendly and eager to help. I would definitely stay again. However, I would make sure to get a different room.

"Friendly, open hotel with amenities within walking"
We enjoyed our stay at the Marriott even though we didn't use many of the services. The food was excellent and the wide open environment was wonderful.

Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel

"Perfect Place to Stay"
The Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel is the perfect place to stay. I visited a lot of the other resorts on the west side of the big island and this one seemed to be the best. It had a sense of privacy the others did not have. Most of the hotels are crammed into the touristy sections of downtown Kona. This one is a bit more secluded, but only a 5-10 minute drive away. Snorkeling was available (Free equipment!!) right on the strip of private beach along with free umbrellas for beach side days. Even though it is secluded the beach and pool areas still have singles, if you are interested, but without the frat house vibe of the downtown Kona hotels and bars...... Many of the Big Island Hotels do not have beach access but instead are on a rocky shore...... Hapuna is on one of the best beaches of the big island. Get the Splash Pass!!!! Well worth it!!!! Rent a car!!!!! Convertible for basic stuff or jeep for some of the trail/ mountain road stuff (few but not many roads require 4WD)

"Beautiful views and great food. "
We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was great. The food at both Rays on the Bay and the Ainakai breakfast buffet were great. The room we booked said it was a mountain view, however; I think it was fifty mountain and fifty ocean. The hotel is kind of far from the main strip of shops and restaurants but there is a shuttle that is free if you show your hotel key. We chose to just rent a car so we can go where we want. The Concierge was great and was very informative about the activities that she helped us book. I loved every minute of it (maybe not the sunburn).

"Nice Hotel"
This is the second time we had stayed at this hotel in recent years and we enjoyed it just as we did the last time. The staff is extremely friendly and they seem to care about you and what your plans are for your stay. This trip we didn't do a lot of of tours or activities which was exactly what we needed. Being right on a nice small beach with great sunsets every night was the medicine we needed. I would like to thank the Ocean bar and grill staff for their friendliness and the accommodating atmosphere they exude. Even though this is a "resort" hotel it is not stuffy and is the laid back style that I yearn for while on vacation. Expect to pay more for food and drinks on the property but that is pretty much the norm.

"Needed to get away"
Decent hotel, nothing fancy. Clean room, comfortable - firm king sized bed. My stay was 4 nights. Went for a seminar across the street held at the King Kamehameha - the price there was double of Kona Seaside. Did not need anything fancy and stayed at the Seaside. Older hotel with some wear and tear. Staff was very pleasant. Ate most meals at their Splash restaurant. Food that I had was good, great burgers. Prices what you expect from a resort area. Again, staff at the restaurant very pleasant. If you don't need anything with a bunch of amenities and just need a decent room in a safe place, this is it.
