In the business district, Clarion Inn & Suites Airport is in an area with good airport proximity and shopping. Grand Rapids Art Museum and Public Museum of Grand Rapids are cultural highlights, and travelers looking to shop may want to visit Downtown Market. John Ball Zoo and Patterson Ice Center are also worth visiting.
Booked 2 rooms on the same reservation more than a month before stay. I assumed the rooms would be relatively close together. Not so, one on 1st and one on 2nd floor. When I asked management to change the rooms I was told ABSOLUTELY can not do. Our room had exceptionally high beds - some sort of 4-5 Inch riser/plinth under the bottom of bed- which made it hard to get in and out: why in the world would you put such a bed in a hotel? During our 3 day stay, we had housekeeping only 1 day. Breakfast pretty good but some mornings limited supply or options (like skim vs 2% milk.) Daytime Manager definitely not friendly, verging on rude - no apology for room separation. I have recently stayed in another Clarion and the comparison leaves Grand Rapids Clarion far below what I expected. The manager seemed to feel no professional responsibility for guests comfort or treatment. I was told by a night staff that housekeeping was short-stafffed during our stay. Maybe the manager has staffing issues due to her brusquness and lack of any evidence of being involved in solving problems
