I will not return, EVER.

Posted Mar 21, 2017
Pros: nothing
Cons: just bulldoze the hotel and build a new one.
Location: they didn't have breakfast- it was close to shopping.
I would not return to this room even if they paid me to stay. If the room was free for a week, I still will not stay. The lobby looks good, but once you get pass the lobby, it goes downhill. They claim they are renovating, but this hotel just needs to be bulldozed and built back again. The ceiling has water marks, and is tearing up. I saw 3 roaches. I had to purchase my own roach spray and spray the roaches. The bathroom door wouldn't close with the toilet seat down, so we had to lift the toilet seat up to close the door. I had to purchase my own wash cloth and towel, because the ones at the hotel were dirty. If they weren't dirty they looked dirty. The pillow cases and sheets had stains on them. This just was all wrong; I will NEVER go back.

We would first like to thank you for taking a few minutes to share your comments with us. It is really important for us to know about our guests’ experience. We are astounded and really disappointed by the experience you are describing, since it is not in our habits, nor in our wishes, to provide that kind of experience. We duly take note of all your comments and will address these concerns immediately. As for the train, there is indeed one running behind the hotel, some of our guests do not mind the noise and some others find it more disturbing, we are sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused you. However, we are glad to see that you enjoyed our pool, bar and lobby. We hope to have a second chance from you to show you the real Universal Palms experience, one that will meet your expectations. Best regards.

Pros: The location.
Cons: Friendlier check-in people, dehumidifiers in the rooms, and a microwave.
Location: It is on the corner of Commercial and Powerline Rd. There is a Waffle House next door, a Miami Subs across the street, and a McDonalds nearby.
The check-in clerk wanted me to sign a paper stating that there would be a $250.00 deposit in case I smoked, had a pet, or damaged the room. She didn't want me to read it, just sign it. When I left in the morning, I asked the clerk to take off the deposit, because I had no pet, didn't smoke, and didn't damage the room. He said there was no one available to check until housekeeping cleaned the room. The beds creaked, the shower dispenser had no soap, the room was humid, and a lightbulb was burned out on the entrance light. There was no microwave, no refrigerator, and no ice dispenser on my floor, even though there was a sign, pointing to one.

Sleeping on the train track.

Posted Apr 18, 2016
Pros: The rate was attractive.
Location: Industrial location. A few fast food places were located nearby.
This is an old-style motel with doors that face the outside. The place is being refurbished, but I didn't know this when I booked the place. The rate was very attractive, but that wasn't good enough to overcome the dirty appearance of the common areas that you had to walk through to get to your room. The final straw was a very active rail system at a crossing area that repeatedly jolted me from any chance of sleeping comfortably. I felt that the train was running between the bed and the television. I checked out after speaking with a Travelocity rep who was understanding.

Hotel by the Train Tracks

Posted Apr 17, 2016
Pros: The restaurant was serving until 10pm .
Cons: The building needs total updating.
The hotel was total disappointment. Train whistled most the night, pool opened too late in the morning and there was no hot water to take a shower. Checked out the following morning not staying the full reservation.

A hotel not to stay

Posted Jan 25, 2016
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Upgrade the rooms, change the mattresses and clean/washdown and paint the corridors
Location: Not much to do.
I have stayed in many hotel across the world and this was my worse experience so much so I had to leave the hotel earlier than place. The corridors were dirty the bed wear old and uncomfortable, two beds were in the room and none of them were comfortable the mattress was worn out and needs replacement. The staff was not friendly. May I suggest Travelocity do mystery visits to ensure these hotels are being keep up to standard.
