really more like a quirky hotel

I really wanted to like this place but it just didn't compare to any of the other B&Bs i which i have stayed. The owner, Harry, was nice and amiable, but not out-going and exuberant. He didn't give more than a perfunctory tour of the breakfast area upon arrrival-no tour of the home, no walk through of the room, no mention of the spa or any amenities on the property. The room was clean, but dated and worn. Our room had 5 stinkbugs in it when we arrived. I informed Harry the next day and he nonchalantly replied, "well, we got them a while back from Korea and its a real problem in the area when it gets cold. we sprayed yesterday" and that was the end of it. The room had no individual climate control other than an anemic fireplace in the bedroom. The breakfast was unvaried and served cafeteria style:scrambled eggs with cheese, sausage links/turkey kielbasa, grapes and melon, hard boiled eggs, cold cereal, orange, cranberry and apple juice, a danish, and a make your own waffle station. It never changed for the 3 days we were there. There is no evening reception, no welcome cocktails, but there is a large printed admonishment in the room that you will be fined $1000 if you consume outside alcoholic beverages on the property. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and the road noise was negligible. If you think of it as a small mom and pop hotel with a cafeteria breakfast, you will not be as disappointed as if you considered it a true bed and breakfast.

    Decent enough

Overall it was a quaint and charming B&B. Some updates would be nice and some areas could have been cleaner. Not all room amenities listed on were in our room. Would have been disappointed had I paid full price. Used a reward for one of the two nights we stayed.

    Relaxing business trip

It was the perfect quiet location to relax and get some work completed outside of the training I had. I did not do a lot of exploring since I was in training every day, so I do not know what the surrounding area had to offer. There were several good restaurants in the area and there appeared to be any service or amenity you needed within ten minutes of the lodge. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. At first glance when I arrived, I wasn't sure I picked the right place. It is a little dated. But after staying there for a week, it was great!! The breakfast in the morning was perfect. Good options. The trail by the river was very relaxing as well.
