Comfortable Hotel near Dublin City Centre

My wife and I loved this kitschy Georgian hotel. The service was excellent from the wonderful people at the front desk to the servers and barman in the two restaurants. One of the room cleaners graciously showed my wife how to use the built in hair dryer. We spent several late evenings after a day of hard touristing in the hotel's Vault bar. Lewis makes an awesome Irish coffee that must be tried to be believed. The morning breakfast buffet in the Music Shop Cafe which was included in the room price far exceeded any hotel buffet I have seen. The servers were friendly, the wait for a table was short and a full Irish breakfast was available. The only complaint would be the size of this shower stall, but I suppose when converting Georgian townhouses into a hotel this is to be expected. We would definitively stay here again since we are already planning a return trip for next year.

Quirky historic hotel conveniently located

Pros: quirky historic layout; wonderful staff; excellent dinner
Cons: breakfast was a bit dull
Location: not centrally located, but Trinity College is a easy 10 min walk, and hotel is very near a stop for the city hop-on/off bus tour
The Castle Hotel was a fun, quirky experience. Although the building layout makes little sense, my room number was in the 100s, but located on the second floor, this just adds to the atmosphere. You never know what you'll find around the next corner! The decor is old but not shabby; I found it charming and added to the ambiance. GPS was a bit challenged to find the right location, but the hotel staff was more than happy to talk me through the directions. My room was small, but it was just me so I wasn't bothered. The shower was hot with good pressure and the bed comfortable. The window did open to the main street which was a little noisy, but I was so tired I feel asleep with no problem. The dinner in the Vault was wonderful! A neat space with excellent food. And the little bar had live music. It was nice to listen to traditional Irish tunes and enjoy a few drinks. Though not centrally located, it is close enough to some main attractions (Trinity College 10 minute walk) it was still convenient. I only spent one night but would visit again for a longer stay in Dublin.

Perfect hotel/location for flights out of Dublin

Pros: Access to Dublin Airport
Cons: na
Location: na
Hotel is located about 500 yards from Terminal 2 which is where most intl flights leave from. Five to ten minute walk but the hotel has a free shuttle from 4am to 12am.

Thanks for staying with us. It is great to hear that you enjoyed the amenities that we have to offer along with the location. We are very sorry to hear that you did not like the joined beds. They can be a bit strange if you are not used to them. Please do let us know in the future that you would like a natural King bed instead of the joined king, and if we have one available we will do our best to accommodate your request. We work hard to make our guests happy and appreciate your feedback!

CLOSE to so many attractions and exh. in Dublin.

Pros: Great location near O'Connell Street, walking distance to so many attractions and good restaurants. also close to many bus stops and quick stores.
Cons: Perhaps a better lock on the door..
Location: O'Connell is a major thoroughfare, the Remembrance Garden is across the street, Grafton St. and Temple Bar are approx. 1 mile walk away!!!!! superb>
From the moment I walked into this hotel, I was happy and charmed. Great and knowledgeable staff. They suggested bus routes, very good restaurants, how to get to places and all their info was correct and appreciated. My brother had a front room that was lovely but a little noisy with street traffic (#107). My room (202) looked out at the car park in the back but was quiet. Comfortable. Nice bathrooms. No separate shower but ok. Restaurant on ground floor served a fine Irish breakfast...good food and the personnel were helpful, smiling and happy. Good experience in the morning. There was a computer in the parlor to help with boarding passes, etc. I didn't use the bar or restaurant in the basement but my brother did and said it was nice. Live music in the p.m.m

We arrived well before the check-in time, expecting to leave our bags and check in later, the front desk found us a vacant room and we were able to refresh before hitting the city. Staff was very friendly.

Nice moderately priced hotel with good location

Pros: The breakfast selection, the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms, and the location.
Location: Both the Hugh Lane Gallery and the Writer's Museum are across the street and highly recommend!
We really enjoyed our stay here. Excellent breakfast selection provided - not your usual fare. The location is excellent for the price. We walked everywhere, but there were buses very close by for those who are not as keen to explore on foot. The room and bathroom were very large by European standards, though the shower isn't huge it is a decent size. We are both over 6 feet tall and the shower provided ample room as well a showerhead that was above our heads! We were staying during the off season so the hotel was very quiet for us, so can't comment on the complaints of other reviewers. The maze like hallways only added to its charm in my opinion. The staff was very helpful and friendly and were only too happy to help us make arrangements for tours and the like, as well as answer any questions.

Wonderful Stay

Pros: Staff
Cons: Bigger room.
Location: Not too much nearby but bus stop about 1 block away and east to get to.
The room was rather small but I did not spend much time there. An odd layout. Staff was 1st Class. The bar was great with singing. Close to bus stops to get downtown and back.

The real Irish experience

Pros: Friendly staff and great location.
Cons: hmmm....not sure
Location: The location was far enough away to be quiet for sleeping but close enough to the downtown attractions for those nights on the town.
This was our first time in Ireland and we found the hotel and staff to be wonderful!!! The hotel was furnished beautifully and gave us a real feel for the true Dublin experience. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful every day! They were a pleasure to do business with, I would stay there again in a second!

Missed Opportunity for Charm

If you're looking for quaint, Irish hospitality during your stay, then you're going to want to skip this hotel all together. If you're willing to live with outside noise at all hours, (police sirens, drunks, etc), noisy neighbors you can hear through the walls, a pungent, musty smell from the shower curtain, a TV with 3 channels (and another 3 with no sound), a rude staff more interested in personal calls than you, disgusting breakfast (complimented by an unpleasant server), then this is the place for you. There's also a strip club 3 doors down if you're into that sort of thing...but I doubt you can afford it after paying approx $175 per night at the hotel dump.
