    "Not good beach front"
It is a nice hotel except the beach was full of seaweeds and not usable. My first time in cancun and I had a different expectation of the water there. I was hoping for a cleaner nicer beaches and water. The beach area in front of the hotel seems desolate and lots of abondaned bars and hotels. But the swimming pool is nice. And nice restaurants inside. It is close to nice shopping area and bars. And Starbucks. Hehe. Also there is a difference between beach view vs beach front when booking rooms. I didn't know.

    "Great location but needs updating"
(We did not choose All-Inclusive Option because there are so many options close by) Positives: Hotel location is great, especially if you want to walk to nightlife/grocery store/market. Beach was much nicer than many hotels close to us that were covered in disgusting seaweed, and we could always find a chair and umbrella. Great pools with enough chairs and a swim up bar. We did buy beer and a cooler (no fridge), and brought that down to the beach to save some money. The employees were all pleasant and friendly. Negatives: The construction going on next door was loud. Luckily, our room was on the other side. I highly recommend paying extra for ocean view, and ask to be on opposite end of construction . We also got chairs and umbrellas on the other side of hotel where we could not hear it. The rooms are not very luxurious at all, but comfortable enough and clean. No chairs on the balcony. We found out the walls were very thin the last night when we had a bachelor party move in next to us :/ So, bring earplugs!

"Best Resort we have stayed at"
The resort is beautiful, adults only and top of the line service. 24 hour room service too. The staff is wonderful. We felt like a king and queen for the 6 days. Restaurants were good. The grill and The Lobster house are outdoor and it is August. They make you dress up a little and men need to wear shoes and long pants. This should not be a requirement for these outdoor restaurants in the 85-90 plus heat. The mosquitoes are bad too. Bring bug spray for night time if you can and we ran out of tums too. Beds are a little hard. Beach was kept up nice but ocean smelled a little. We thought we could go in ocean but really wasn't clear and water was too rough. They should put a lot of ceiling fans in outdoor restaurants to circulate air and keep mosquitoes away. Shows were entertaining. Drinks were great. We had the swim out suite. Very nice. The shops there are over priced. The prices were higher there than in the states. You're gratuities are included but give your waiters and maids a couple dollars a day. They work hard and don't make hardly anything. Plus the already great service gets even better. I would definitely go back to this resort.

"Good hotel, only a few problems"
Overall, this hotel is very nice and clean. The facilities, like swimming pool and restaurants, and the beach are well taking care. The staff is very friendly and willing to help whenever you need them. The only issue we faced was on our arrival. We discovered that the hotel had changed our room from one complex to the other (From Tropical to the Caribe). We were meeting with relatives, and the plan was to be at the same complex. At the end we were able to have the group in two complex (Colonial and Caribe), which was nor ideal, but worked at the end.

    "Location, cleanliness, and English-speaking staff!"
It would be hard to find a more beautiful clean hotel with an English-speaking staff (and friendly!) that is a better value than this. It is only 2 blocks from the Zocalo and dozens of restaurants, attractions, churches, museums are so close -- still, it was extremely quiet. My friend has allergies and could not tolerate the particular scent the cleaning staff uses to "finish" the room, so the staff found a room that was just then being cleaned and kept it scent free all week for her. There is a nice restaurant on the top floor, which may be good for those occasions when you are too tired to go elsewhere. But there are so many restaurants to choose from in this area! An aside: I was impressed with the cleanliness of this area of Mexico City. There is hardly a gum wrapper or cigarette butt to be found on the streets and sidewalks, unlike what you find in many other major cities. For coffee addicts, there is a Starbucks just around the corner (with wi-fi).

"The service went above and beyond the usual hotel!"
The staff were very sweet and kind. Although I speak Spanish they spoke in English to me. That would be very welcoming to someone who did not have a grasp of the language. At one point I was having difficulty accessing the the internet. I went to the front desk explained my problem and within 20 min. a service man was at my door and resolved my problem.. Bottom line...if you want to feel a little bit like royalty for at least a day then stay at the Gran Hotel.....It was truly an experience worth having.
